Participating in the Robotics class at Nguyen Luong Bang Secondary School (Lien Chieu Ward) organized by Dana STEMEducation Company Limited at the school, Nguyen Bao Ngoc (5th grade student) and his friends approached robot programming technology through vivid and easy-to-understand simulation activities.
Bao Ngoc shared: “The lessons are very interesting. We are guided to get acquainted with the models, experience controlling robots, and are guided to assemble technical models, watch science films, etc. This creates a love for science, a love of exploring and discovering new things.”
Mr. Nguyen Duy Linh, Principal of Nguyen Luong Bang Secondary School, said that in addition to opening the school yard, this summer the school coordinated with FPT Polytechnic College Da Nang to organize 3 free computer programming classes for nearly 100 students and 1 STEM class (an educational method integrating science, technology and mathematics) for more than 20 students.
Computer programming classes started in early June, took place on weekdays and ended in early July. According to Mr. Linh, students get acquainted with and use the visual programming language Scratch, practice writing code, and experience technology, helping to develop logical and creative thinking skills.
With the STEM class, students mainly learn and get acquainted with robotics and it is expected that before the end of the course, there will be a competition for them to apply the knowledge they have learned.
In addition to organizing academic playgrounds, many schools also organize physical activities and sports for students to improve their health and physical strength. After the end of the school year, the “Wings of Dreams” club, led by Ms. Pham Thi Kim Cuong, Kim Dong Secondary School (Hai Chau Ward) and her colleagues, restarted in mid-June.
In addition to cultural classes, summer adds extra talent and life skills classes such as swimming, chess, basketball, etc. to help students increase physical activity and improve their health.
Many primary and secondary schools in the city have free swimming classes to train safe swimming skills and prevent drowning in Hoa Vang commune, Hoa Tien commune, Hoa Cuong ward, Hoa Xuan ward, Ngu Hanh Son ward...
According to Ms. Bach Thi Dao, Principal of Tran Quang Dieu Primary School, right after the end of the school year, the school has many activities for students; recruiting for free safe swimming classes, other sports activities such as soccer, badminton, etc.
Every summer, the school usually enrolls 2 courses, each course is about 1.5 months, taking place continuously from Monday to Saturday every week. Every day, the school has 10 classes, each class has 12 students, guided by 2 teachers.
“Activities taking place during the summer, especially physical education and sports activities, help students practice physical fitness, gain more skills, and limit the use of electronic devices,” Ms. Dao added.
According to the Department of Education and Training, as of early June 2025, the city had 74/96 primary schools and 22/58 secondary schools with swimming pools funded by the city to teach swimming for free to students.
At the end of each course, students will take a final test requiring them to swim 25m and float in water for at least 30 seconds to be awarded a certificate of completion of the swimming course. If they fail, they will have to retake the course.
