18 year old party member
After 3 years of implementing Resolution 21-NQ/TW of the Central Executive Committee on "Strengthening and consolidating grassroots party organizations and improving the quality of party members in the new period" and Plan No. 115/KH-TU of the Provincial Party Standing Committee on "Developing party members among high school students in the province", the work of developing the Party in schools according to the model of "Party members at the age of 18" in Quang Tri has made a breakthrough.
The Quang Tri Department of Education and Training, in coordination with the Provincial Youth Union, focuses on training and creating sources for developing party members, effectively implementing the model of "Party members at the age of 18" with many diverse forms. Thanks to that, the work of developing party members in schools brings bright "colors".
The number of outstanding union members admitted to the Party increases year by year. In the 2024-2025 school year (as of June 2025), Quang Tri province has 251 outstanding union members who are high school students admitted to the Party, bringing the number of students admitted to the Party in the 2021-2025 period to 486 party members.
The model of "Party members at the age of 18" not only contributes to concretizing the policy of building and developing grassroots party organizations in schools, but also raises political awareness, fosters revolutionary ideals and a sense of responsibility for the young generation, creating a solid source of successors for the Party in the new period.
In Lai Chau, the work of developing party members among students is focused on. By June 2025, Lai Chau had 54 students admitted to the Party in schools. Ms. Hoang Thu Phuong - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Lai Chau province, said: "Admitting party members - excellent students - is an important milestone in the work of training, fostering and developing a team of young party members, contributing to the development of party members in both quantity and quality. This is also a clear demonstration of comprehensive and effective activities in the strategy of enhancing the position and prestige of schools in the area".
Mr. Nguyen Hoai Nam - Principal of Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted (Quang Tri), affirmed: "Developing Party members among students is an important political task, which is seriously and effectively implemented by the school. The Party Committee and the Youth Union of the school provide guidelines, regulations, and conditions for students to join the Party when they are 18 years old."
According to Mr. Nam, in the 2023-2024 school year, the school has 21 outstanding students admitted to the Party. In the 2024-2025 school year, the school's Party cell admitted 19 more outstanding members to the Party.
“Red Fortress” fosters revolutionary ideals
Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted - one of the leading units in developing party members among students in the mountainous region of Lai Chau. In early June, the school admitted 13 outstanding members into the Party, bringing the total number of students admitted to the Party to 18.
Ms. Ho Thanh An - Secretary of the Party Cell of Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted (Lai Chau), shared: “Students who are able to join the Party while still in school are outstanding individuals, good at studying and training well. They have achieved outstanding results in studying and in the Youth Union movement, physical education and sports…”.
At the boarding schools for ethnic minorities, the work of developing party members for students of ethnic minorities is also focused on. Mr. Vu Trung Hoan - Principal of the Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities in Dien Bien province, said: "The school has just admitted 8 excellent students into the Party, these are the first party members - students of the school. Admitting them into the Party is not only the result of the process of studying, training and striving, but also the dedicated guidance and education from the family, teachers, the Youth Union, the Party Cell and the Party Committee of the school".
Quang Tri Ethnic Boarding School prioritizes developing party members for students of Van Kieu and Pa Ko ethnic groups. Mr. Nguyen The Long - Principal of the school, shared: "Creating conditions for students to join the Party is a goal to strive for and a regular action program. From there, it helps the school's students to become more mature in terms of awareness and action, living with noble goals and ideals."
Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted (Lai Chau) has used its strengths to overcome challenges with a model of 5 flexible and creative solutions. In class, teachers harmoniously integrate ideal education into the teaching process of specialized subjects. Instead of imposing, teachers skillfully incorporate ideals into each lesson.
When teaching about the problem of extreme values, Mr. Bui Van Hoan from Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted (Lai Chau) not only guided how to solve it, but also told about Professor Hoang Tuy - a revolutionary mathematician who refused an invitation to work abroad to return to build the country. "The students listened very attentively, some even asked more about Professor Hoang Tuy's life. That was when I knew the students understood: Mathematics is not just about numbers, but also about love for the homeland," Mr. Hoan shared.
On the other hand, the school promotes the self-education role of the Youth Union. Student Lo Thi Hoai Anh - grade 12 majoring in Mathematics shared: "The Youth Union has helped students change from "listeners" to "doers". In the program "When I am 18", we wrote letters to ourselves after 10 years to share our dreams; in the campaign "Warm Winter", not only did I donate warm clothes, I also sewed and wrote New Year greeting cards to send to children in the highlands".
