After being knocked out in the first round of a Grand Slam for the first time since 2019, Zverev began to reveal his mental health issues, admitting that he had felt “lonely and empty” in recent times.

The top seed to be knocked out of the All England Club this year says he is struggling to cope with the rigours of life on the professional tennis circuit, and the challenges...

“It’s funny, sometimes I feel lonely outside the court. I struggle mentally. I told this story right after the Australian Open earlier this year!” Zverev told a crowd of reporters.

“I was trying so hard to figure out ways, to find a way out of this hole. But somehow, I kept finding myself back there – in some way!”

“In general, I feel quite lonely in my current life. It is not a pleasant feeling at all,” Zverev elaborated on his psychological development, which surprised almost all the media.

When asked if he would consider therapy to cure his problems, Zverev admitted: “Maybe, for the first time in my life, I will need therapy.”

“I went through a lot. I went through a lot with the media. I went through a lot in my daily life,” Zverev said of the tragedies he has experienced.

“I have never felt so empty. There is just a lack of joy, a lack of joy in everything I do. It is not just about tennis. It is about other joys outside of tennis.”

“Even when I'm winning, even when I take a victory like in Stuttgart or in Halle, it's hardly that feeling of achieving what I wanted, like being over the moon, to keep the motivation going.”

“I don't feel that way right now. It's like that again, like the first time in my life I feel like that,” Zverev said of how hard it is for him to find motivation to compete.

While Zverev has mental health issues, Novak Djokovic has physical health issues. The GOAT of world tennis just won his opening match, defeating Alexandre Muller (France, ATP rank 41) 6-1, 6-7 (7-9), 6-2, 6-2.

It was a match he started very excitedly, but was a bit worried when he lost the tie-break in the second set, had to ask the doctor to take care of his health twice in the third set but still played steadily in the last two sets.

“I went from the best to the worst – in just one and a half sets, in about 45 minutes,” Djokovic said. “Even with the stomach ache, I struggled. But the energy came back after the miracle pill the doctor gave me.”

*In the women's singles, a big surprise also happened when No. 1 Candidate - Coco Gauff (USA, WTA rank 2) lost to Daria Yastremska (Ukraine, world rank 42) with a score of 6-7 (3-7), 1-6 and completely shattered her dream of winning her first Wimbledon.

For Gauff, the grass court at the All England Club remains something of a dream, as she has been eliminated in the first round at two of her last three tournaments. She is also the third reigning Roland Garros champion to lose in the first round at Wimbledon, after Justine Henin (2005) and Francesca Schiavone (2010).

“Yastremska played fantastic. After seeing the draw, I knew it was going to be a tough match. I played her on clay, which I think suits me a little better. I had my chances, but it was the same.”

Gauff was also eliminated from the first round.
