Prepare carefully, ready to receive

According to the list introduced by the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot City (old), Tan Loi Secondary School (Buon Ma Thuot, Dak Lak) will receive 8 students who are children of officials, civil servants, and public employees from Tuy Hoa City, Phu Yen Province (old) to study.

“Up to now, no student has come to complete the admission procedures, but the unit has made careful preparations, prioritizing the selection of teachers with a lot of experience in homeroom work as well as teaching. Psychological counseling and encouragement work have also been specifically planned to help students quickly integrate into the new environment,” said Mr. Ha Van Vuong - Principal of Tan Loi Secondary School.

In the 2025-2026 school year, Tran Hung Dao Primary School (Cam Thanh, Quang Ngai) plans to enroll 8 first grade classes with a total of 280 students as planned. In addition, to meet the learning needs of children of officials and civil servants who have transferred to work from Kon Tum province, the school will open a separate class with 35 students.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Trang - Principal of the school said that the facilities, teaching staff and necessary conditions are fully prepared to receive 100% of students from Kon Tum province who want to study.

“We have arranged for staff to be on duty at the school to guide and receive admission applications. In the coming time, the school will continue to maintain a staff on duty and complete all preparations, ready to welcome students whenever parents need. Our wish is to create the best conditions for children to study with peace of mind and parents to work with peace of mind,” Ms. Trang shared.

To support students from Kon Tum, Tran Hung Dao Secondary School (Cam Thanh, Quang Ngai ) was allowed by the province to enroll an additional 6th grade class with 40 students. For grades 7, 8 and 9, the school will flexibly arrange, ensuring that the number of students does not exceed 45 students/class, complying with the regulations of the school meeting National standards level 2.

“The school has received 8 applications from students from Kon Tum and is urgently completing the enrollment process for the first level. At the same time, we have fully prepared classrooms, equipment and arranged teachers to be ready to welcome students when they wish to come,” said Principal Tran Quoc Bao.

According to statistics from the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ngai, up to now, the locality has received 593 students who are children of officials, civil servants, public employees, and workers of Kon Tum province to study in Quang Ngai. These students are distributed at all levels of education, from preschool to primary, secondary and high school.

Mr. Tran Sy - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ngai shared that to ensure the right to continuous learning for students, the department has directed the Department of Education and Training and schools to proactively grasp the needs and promptly arrange convenient learning places near their residence.

Avoid local overloading

According to initial statistics from the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang, there are about 1,700 students from Quang Nam who wish to transfer to Da Nang after the merger of the two localities to continue studying. Mr. Pham Dinh Kha - Head of Secondary Education - Continuing Education Department, Department of Education and Training of Da Nang said: The Department of Education and Training of Da Nang has announced that from July 15, the one-stop department will receive cases of school transfer due to parents changing jobs.

According to the initial survey, students from schools in Quang Nam (old) transferring to Da Nang are scattered throughout the area and not concentrated in a few schools in the central area. Most of the students transferring schools are at the primary and secondary levels.

The Department of Education and Training of Da Nang has instructed primary and secondary schools in the area to proactively accept students who are children of officials, civil servants and public employees from Quang Nam province who are mobilized, transferred or assigned to work in Da Nang.

Admission must be carried out in accordance with the correct procedures and ensure that it is suitable for the school's facilities and teaching staff. Priority is given to students being placed in schools near their parents' residence or workplace to facilitate their living and studying.

Ly Tu Trong Primary School (Hai Chau, Da Nang) has just introduced a parent working at the Department of Finance who can refer to transfer their child to study at Hoang Van Thu Primary School, right next to the administrative center.

“Because the class this parent applied to transfer their child to has approximately 40-42 students in each class, the school is unable to accept them. Afterwards, Hoang Van Thu Primary School guided the parent through the necessary paperwork and admission procedures to complete the relevant procedures on July 15,” Principal Tran Thi Le informed.

In Gia Lai, after the administrative unit merger, the demand for school transfer of children of cadres, civil servants and public employees from Gia Lai province (old) to Gia Lai province administrative center (new) tends to decrease. Specifically, if on May 30, there were 535 students registered to transfer schools, by June 19, this number was only 219 students.

Faced with this reality, the education sector has proactively reviewed and arranged schools to ensure that students’ learning is not interrupted in the new school year. However, according to Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training Tran Ba Cong, the concentration of many students in schools in central areas can easily lead to overload, affecting the quality of teaching and management.

“The Department of Education and Training is reviewing parents’ work locations to arrange for their children to study at schools near their workplace. This will help parents conveniently pick them up and drop them off, stabilize their lives, and work with peace of mind,” said Mr. Cong.

Harmony between old and new students

Despite being given attention in arranging a place to study, many families still have many difficulties in arranging their lives after the merger. For example, Ms. Ho Thi Thanh Thuy - accountant of the Kon Tum Department of Education and Training (formerly) who worked at the Quang Ngai Department of Education and Training had to temporarily leave her three young children with their grandparents during the summer vacation to feel secure in taking on her new job.

Ms. Thuy and three colleagues rented a house near the administrative center to settle down. However, her husband is working at Vietcombank Kon Tum, nearly 200km away from her workplace, so family reunification still faces many obstacles.

“At first, I took advantage of going back and forth every week to visit my children. But my grandparents are old and cannot take care of them long term. I hope my husband will also be given the opportunity to move back closer so that we can take care of our children together and stabilize our lives,” Thuy said.

Both Nguyen Van Phuong and his wife (formerly Kon Tum province) were assigned to work at the Quang Ngai Provincial Administrative Center (new), so the family initially settled down. However, the youngest child's education still made the family worried.

In the recent 10th grade entrance exam, he was admitted to Nguyen Tat Thanh High School for the Gifted (formerly Kon Tum province). Now that he has moved, his family is contacting the Department of Education to complete the procedures to transfer him to Le Khiet High School for the Gifted, which is convenient for his studies and living.

Sharing by Mr. Ha Van Vuong - Principal of Tan Loi Vuong Secondary School, changing to a new living environment, getting to know friends, teachers, school and the unique cultural features of Buon Ma Thuot, Dak Lak are prioritized by the school.

“In the first week, teachers focus on getting to know the students, understanding their family background, interests and aspirations. At the same time, they monitor their psychological development and difficulties in communication language (if any), thereby adjusting the education and teaching plan to ensure harmony between old and new students.

In lessons and extracurricular activities, teachers will introduce the unique cultural features of Buon Ma Thuot, Dak Lak province, and the similarities between Phu Yen and Dak Lak so that students can clearly see the development opportunities after the merger into the new Dak Lak province," Mr. Vuong added.

According to Ms. Le Thi Kim Oanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak, as of July 1, the number of registrations has changed compared to before. The Department of Education and Training has guided and directed units and schools to prioritize arranging for children of officials, civil servants and public employees from Phu Yen (old) to follow their parents to work at the new administrative center of Dak Lak province.

“Priority is given to placement based on the family’s wishes, close to the parents’ workplace or residence. After receiving students, schools will develop appropriate education and teaching plans, select experienced and dedicated teachers, etc. to help the students quickly integrate into the new environment,” said Ms. Oanh.

“After the merger, the Department of Education and Training, together with the locality, strives to improve the quality of education, creating a favorable learning environment for students from all regions in the province to maximize their qualities and abilities; gradually narrowing the educational gap between regions in the province.” - Ms. Le Thi Kim Oanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak
