At 11pm on July 5 (Vietnam time), the highlight match of the FIFA Club World Cup quarter-finals will take place, when PSG faces Bayern Munich at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta.

This is considered the "early final" of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, when the two giants both have great achievements in European football.

Familiar face

Bayern Munich and PSG are so familiar with each other that they have met four times (a total of six matches) in the Champions League in just the past five years.

The first time was in the 2020 Champions League final, with a 1-0 victory for Bayern Munich, marking the most brilliant period of the "gray tigers" in the past decade. Just one year later, PSG successfully took revenge when defeating Bayern Munich thanks to the advantage of away goals in the quarter-finals.

In 2023, Bayern Munich rose again, winning 3-0 on aggregate after two matches in the Champions League round of 16. This was also the season PSG said goodbye to Messi and Neymar.

In the recent season, Bayern Munich continued to defeat the French representative when the two teams met in the group stage. But when the season ended, PSG was the overall winner, with a very convincing championship.

The matches between PSG and Bayern Munich reflect the football situation in the past 5 years. They are the 2 rare representatives capable of competing with Real Madrid in the European arena. And when entering the FIFA Club World Cup, PSG and Bayern Munich are obviously the top candidates.

Impressive performance

In the US this summer, both PSG and Bayern Munich have been in impressive form. PSG crushed Atletico Madrid 4-0 in their opening game, then produced a similar destruction against Messi's Inter Miami in the round of 16.

Bayern were no less impressive, with a convincing win over Flamengo in the round of 16. Flamengo were the team that beat Chelsea 3-1 in the group stage, raising fears in European football about the Brazilian representatives.

Experts, including Opta's supercomputer model, rate PSG slightly higher (regular time winning rate is 45.6%; Bayern's corresponding rate is only 28.7%). This is an understandable assessment given PSG's current form.

They are the reigning European champions, and have not shown any weaknesses so far. Not only that, PSG also received good news when superstar Dembele fully recovered from injury, and most of the squad was able to rest thanks to the "practice match" win against Inter Miami.

However, the French giants cannot help but fear Bayern Munich - the team that owns Kane and Olise at the peak of their form.

Reminiscing about the C1 final

Taking place at 3am on July 6 (Vietnam time) is a match that promises to be equally exciting between Real Madrid and Dortmund. If the PSG - Bayern Munich match recreates the 2020 Champions League final, the match between Real Madrid and Dortmund will recall the 2024 European final.

Real obviously has the upper hand in terms of strength, high form and stability thanks to coach Xabi Alonso's flexible tactics. Above all, they welcome the return of a fully fit Mbappe. On the contrary, Dortmund suffered a big loss with Jobe Bellingham, the younger brother of Real Madrid superstar Jude Bellingham, absent due to suspension. There cannot be an interesting match between the two Bellingham brothers, and Dortmund is the team that suffers.

According to Opta computer data, Real has a winning rate of up to 59.7%, while the corresponding figure for Dortmund is only 27.4% in 10,000 simulations. Popular prediction sites such as SportsMole, Squawka are all leaning towards the scenario of Real winning 2-1 or 3-1.
