In June 2025, sales of MG4 electric cars in the Chinese market reached only 10 units, far behind models in the same segment such as BYD Dolphin or Volkswagen ID.3. To improve competitiveness, the all-new generation MG4 was born. In terms of appearance, the new MG4 2026 has been completely redesigned both in terms of exterior and interior. In particular, the interior design has recently been revealed. The car has a hatchback design with a sloping roof, combined with smooth lines to increase the sporty feel.
The car has removed the sharp lines of the past, instead of a softer overall style. The front of the car with a closed grille is designed to lean forward. On both sides are "L" shaped light clusters while the glowing "MG" logo in the middle adds a high-tech feel. The front bumper integrates a large trapezoidal central air intake with a black honeycomb pattern and a split-layer sport cover. Next to it are "C" shaped air intakes on both sides, creating a strong and sporty feel. The rear of the car stands out with an asymmetrical spoiler and a black diffuser, giving it the feel of a high-performance hatchback. The seamless arrow-shaped taillights and 17-inch petal-shaped alloy wheels in “Dong Lai” purple further emphasize the car’s fashionable and modern style. The length x width x height of the MG4 2026 is 4,395 x 1,842 x 1,551 mm respectively and the wheelbase reaches 2,750 mm, all of which are larger than the previous generation and superior to competitors such as BYD Dolphin or Volkswagen ID.3.
The interior of the 2026 MG4 is completely redesigned with a simple two-tone dashboard, equipped with a floating central touchscreen and a rectangular LCD digital clock. The car cooperates with the OPPO Smart Mobility ecosystem, supporting features such as voice control of the car via phone, sensor-free car-phone connection, phone application synchronization, navigation by shaking the phone, integrating AI artificial intelligence,... In addition, the car also comes with equipment such as a two-spoke multi-function steering wheel, electronic gear lever, wireless phone charger, chrome-plated mechanical buttons and electric seats with ventilation/heating.
According to previous registration information, the all-new MG4 will use an electric motor with a maximum capacity of 120 kW (about 163 horsepower), combined with a lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery pack provided by Rept Battery Energy. The car's maximum speed is 160 km/h. However, MG has not announced the specific battery capacity and operating range. Mr. Chen Cui, MG brand director, hinted that the new MG4 could be one of the first models equipped with a standard semi-solid-state battery, with a test operating range of about 800 km. Finally, there is level 2 steering support, MacPherson front suspension and multi-link rear suspension. MG4 2026 will start accepting deposits from August 5 and officially launch on September 5. The selling price of this electric car in the Chinese market has not been announced yet. Meanwhile, this old generation costs up to 948 million VND in the Vietnamese market.
