Messi shines, Inter Miami wins '4-star' match

Lionel Messi showed his class when he scored twice and assisted one goal, helping Inter Miami to an impressive 4-1 victory over Montreal in round 21 of MLS.

Returning from a disastrous defeat to PSG in the round of 16 of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, Inter Miami did not have a very favorable start.

In the second minute, from a failed pass by Lionel Messi, the ball accidentally came to Prince Owusu's feet, and this striker seized the opportunity to open the scoring for Montreal.

Undaunted, Inter Miami pushed up their formation and launched an attack with a well-coordinated combination of Messi, Luis Suarez and Jordi Alba.

In the 33rd minute, Tadeo Allende equalized with a beautiful long-range shot after Messi's assist. In the 40th minute, Messi himself shone with a skillful dribble and accurate shot, helping Inter Miami take a 2-1 lead.

In the second half, Montreal tried to attack but was blocked by goalkeeper Oscar Ustari. In the 60th minute, Segovia increased the score to 3-1 with an impressive long-range shot.

Just two minutes later, Messi completed his double by soloing past four players and scoring the final goal for Inter Miami, making it 4-1.
