In early July 2025, reporters from Tin Tuc and Dan Toc newspaper were present at the construction site of the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway, recording the urgent atmosphere of hundreds of engineers, supervisory consultants, workers, and laborers of the investor and contractors "overcoming the sun and rain", working in 3 shifts, 4 shifts day and night, stretching across the entire route to serve the goal of reaching the project's finish line.

Video recorded by reporters at the project construction site in early July 2025:

According to Mr. Luu Tuan Tuan, in charge of project construction management (representative of the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board - Investor), by early July 2025, the project had achieved an overall progress of about 97.5% of the construction and installation volume. Currently, on the expressway, there are only about 8.5km of service roads that have not been handed over because the locality has not approved the compensation plan; creating the National Highway (QL) 9C intersection with a U-turn point and toll station; on the main route, there are about 170m of the completion stage of the items... but this does not affect the project's target progress.

According to the reporter's records, the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway is divided into 2 construction packages: XL1 from Km675+400 - Km708+350, with 13 bridges, 108 box culverts, 17 underpasses; XL2 from Km708+350 - Km740+884, with 16 bridges, 129 box culverts, 25 underpasses. Currently, the 2 packages have basically completed the main construction items such as: Final layer of hot asphalt concrete, road marking paint, installation of lighting system, guardrail fences, intelligent traffic management...

“Contractors on the route are organizing many construction teams along the entire route to complete the installation of warning signs, road guidance gates, anti-slide anchors, soft median strips on the highway, turn-around points and toll stations… If the weather conditions are favorable, with the current accelerated progress, the project will reach the target set by the Government and the Ministry of Construction,” said Mr. Luu Tuan Tuan.

The Van Ninh - Cam Lo highway runs parallel to Ho Chi Minh road.

The Van Ninh - Cam Lo Expressway starts at the Bung - Van Ninh Expressway in Quang Binh Province (old) and ends at the Cam Lo - La Son Expressway in Quang Tri Province (old). When completed and put into operation, the expressway will shorten travel time, creating momentum to promote trade, socio-economic development, and tourism in the new Quang Tri Province and the localities where the project passes through.

According to the Ministry of Construction's plan, on August 19, 2025, 6 North-South expressway component projects will open to traffic on the main route or some sections on the main route, with a total length of 208 km, including: Vung Ang - Bung, Van Ninh - Cam Lo, the remaining 13 km of Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway, some sections of Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway (10/88 km), Hoai Nhon - Quy Nhon (45/70 km), Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh (20/62 km) and the Hoa Lien - Tuy Loan expressway. The remaining projects are being implemented with efforts, basically following the completion plan by the end of 2025.
