According to the VNA correspondent in Mexico, in the article, author Pedro Gellert said that Vietnam is not only known to countries for its resounding victories in the past struggles for national liberation and reunification, but is also admired for its impressive socio -economic achievements in the new era. After nearly 40 years of implementing the Doi Moi process since 1986, Vietnam has achieved many great achievements. In 2024, GDP growth reached 7.09%, among the countries with the highest growth rate in the world. The macro economy is stable, inflation is controlled below 4%, major balances are ensured and trade surplus is maintained. It is forecasted that by 2029, this Asian country will be in the Top 20 largest economies globally.

According to the article, economic development is only truly meaningful when it serves prosperity and social justice. Vietnam, under the socialist orientation, has made efforts to improve people's lives and achieved remarkable results in this field. Per capita income is currently 4,711 USD/year; the multidimensional poverty rate has dropped to only 1.93% compared to 60% in 1986. In the 2024 World Happiness Report, Vietnam ranked 54/143, up 11 places from the previous year.

In terms of education, the adult literacy rate is approximately 99%. Since 2014, Vietnam has universalized lower secondary education and the number of university and college students has increased nearly 20 times compared to the early stages of Doi Moi. In the health sector, the universal health insurance coverage rate will reach 94.1% by 2024.

In addition, Vietnam also focuses on developing science, technology and innovation, promoting the startup ecosystem, improving the quality of human resources and prioritizing policies on ethnicity, religion, gender, children and the elderly. Programs to protect and care for children, promote gender equality and women's development are also priorities in national policies.

The article praised that with 53 ethnic minorities, Vietnam has made constant efforts to improve the lives of people in mountainous, remote and isolated areas through policies supporting culture, ethnic language education, infrastructure investment, preferential loans, vocational training and free health insurance. The Voice of Vietnam even has a radio channel in 13 ethnic minority languages. This is a testament to the respect and preservation of diverse cultural identities in a unified country.

With the above achievements, Vietnam currently ranks 54th out of 166 countries according to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) index, reflecting comprehensive progress in economy, society and environment.

The author stated that in the context of a deeply polarized and unpredictable global situation, developing countries are facing new opportunities, but also more challenges. Vietnam continues to affirm its independent and proactive development path, associated with deep international integration. To achieve success in this new era of development, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam has outlined four main strategic action axes for national development. Although each axis focuses on a key area, they are closely related, complementary and mutually promoting.

The newspaper stated that Vietnam aims to achieve a technological level and innovation capacity that exceeds the world average by 2030, with some areas reaching international standards, and especially strives to be in the Top 3 ASEAN and Top 5 Asia in terms of technological capacity and digital transformation. Furthermore, Vietnam is promoting legislative reform to perfect the institutional system in key areas; identifying the private economy as the most important driving force in the national economy; pursuing a comprehensive, proactive and multilateral integration policy. While promoting economic integration, Vietnam is also developing an independent, modern, green and circular economy, with competitiveness based on science, technology and innovation.

In addition to domestic policies, Mexican media especially appreciates Vietnam's foreign policy, comprehensive international integration, freedom, openness, multilateralization, diversification, cooperation and sharing of responsibility for building a more peaceful, progressive and developed world.

The author of the article commented that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s participation at the BRICS Summit 2025 not only demonstrates Vietnam’s new and increasingly important and prominent role in the international arena, but is also an opportunity for this Asian country to promote bilateral relations with BRICS member countries, seeking cooperation opportunities in many fields. With the great achievements it has achieved, Vietnam is truly moving forward firmly and confidently into the future.
