Now, the Spanish midfielder has officially joined Arsenal for a fee of £51 million from Real Sociedad after a complicated 12-month negotiation process.
Zubimendi, 26, has completed his move to the Emirates on a five-year deal - the Gunners' second signing of the summer after spending £5m on Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Zubimendi is known for his aggressive style of play, sharp interceptions and great influence. He once left England fans heartbroken with his excellent performance in the Euro 2024 final. However, off the pitch, he is quiet, humble and simple.
