Lieutenant Colonel, Doctor Tran Van Giang - Captain of Treatment Team 486 said that the team also has the task of coordinating and assisting local medical staff in taking care of people's health in the area where Naval Region 4 is stationed. Since 2018, the team has been providing health insurance examination and treatment for people, contributing to improving the quality of health care for local people.
Having suffered a stroke 2 months ago, Mr. Phan Quang Duoc (52 years old, Cam Lam commune) was paralyzed on one side of his body, making it very difficult for him to move. He had to receive acupuncture and physical therapy regularly at the Provincial Hospital of Traditional Medicine and Rehabilitation (Bac Nha Trang ward). The long distance causes difficulties for him. Since being introduced to Treatment Team 486 by an acquaintance, Mr. Duoc was very happy because there was a place for treatment closer to home, with good treatment results. "The traditional medicine and rehabilitation room here is quite new, well-invested, and the doctors are all very enthusiastic. My treatment is less difficult because it is only 10km from my house to here," said Mr. Okay.
Sharing with reporters, Lieutenant Colonel, Doctor Tran Van Giang said that the treatment area for Mr. Duoc is the Senior Expert Treatment Room which has just been put into use since May 9 with the professional and technical support of the Central Acupuncture Hospital. This is the result of coordination between the Navy Region 4 Command and the Central Acupuncture Hospital; it is a step forward in technology and expertise in developing the military medical system to care for the health of soldiers and people in the area. Since the Senior Expert Treatment Room came into operation, the number of patients coming to visit and receive treatment at the team's internal medicine department has doubled compared to before.
Knowing about Treatment Team 486 since the beginning of 2025, Ms. Thai Thi Mui (60 years old, Cam Lam commune) often comes here to check for high blood pressure, and her sister comes for regular health check-ups. Ms. Mui said: "The doctors are very dedicated. This place is truly a reliable address for us people to visit and receive treatment."
Improve the quality of medical examination and treatment
It is known that since 2016, the team has been invested in new construction and essential medical equipment to serve military and defense missions and health insurance examination and treatment, such as: Digital X-ray machine; 32-slice CT Scanner; digestive endoscopy machine; 4D ultrasound machine; automatic biochemistry machine; high-pressure oxygen chamber; dental chair; ENT endoscopy machine; oriental medicine and physiotherapy system... Every year, the team's doctors and nurses regularly attend training courses to improve their professional qualifications at higher levels such as: Bach Mai Hospital, 108 Central Military Hospital, 175 Military Hospital , 87 Military Hospital, Khanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital... Thanks to that, Treatment Team 486 has improved the quality of medical examination and treatment, ensuring good health care for soldiers and people in the area.
Currently, the unit has more than 60 people, including 8 doctors, 9 paramedics, 8 nurses... Every day, Treatment Team 486 works from 6:30 to 11:30; 14:00 to 17:00. According to Lieutenant Colonel, Doctor Tran Van Giang, previously, the team was only on duty for emergency care on Saturdays and Sundays. Recently, the team has been approved to organize health insurance examination and treatment on both Saturdays and Sundays to meet the people's needs for medical examination and treatment.
In 2024, Treatment Team 486 examined and treated nearly 12,400 outpatients, treated more than 1,000 inpatients; collected samples for testing for 20,894 people. In the first 6 months of 2025, the team examined and nearly treated 5,300 outpatients, examined and treated 1,000 inpatients; collected samples for testing for 14,685 people...
