Vi Mai Lam (2011) is currently living with her grandparents in Chien Thang commune (Van An commune, old Chi Lang district), Lang Son province. When Lam was only 18 months old, her mother disappeared, leaving her to be cared for by her paternal family. Lam's father is currently mentally unstable and has to live alone in a small house next to his grandparents' house. Due to frequent seizures, Lam's father is unable to work and is completely dependent on his grandparents for all his daily activities.
Lam's grandfather, Vi Van Doi (born 1960), is currently suffering from high blood pressure and stomach problems, and is in poor health. His grandmother, Vi Thi Tit (born 1963), is also often sick, but still tries to take care of the family.
The family has 3 stars of rice fields, which are only enough to grow rice each year. In addition, the couple also owns about 0.3 hectares of hilly land growing acacia, but the trees are still slow to grow and cannot generate income. When she is healthy, Mrs. Tit takes advantage of the opportunity to work for hire (weeding, planting rice) with an income of about 200,000 VND per day, but the work is precarious and unstable. To earn more money, the family also raised a few chickens and ducks for eggs to sell. Mrs. Tit saves that small amount of money to cover the daily expenses of the entire family.
Lam has an older brother, Vi Van Quynh (2008). Due to difficult family circumstances, Quynh had to drop out of school early to go to Hanoi to work. However, his job is only enough to cover his personal expenses, not enough to help his grandparents in the countryside.
As for Lam, he had little opportunity to be close to his father since he was young, and lacked the love of his mother, so his grandparents were his spiritual support and greatest source of love. During his time off from school, Lam always took the opportunity to help his grandparents with the farming, and in the summer, he went to tap rubber trees to earn more money to buy books and pay for his studies.
Despite the difficult conditions, Lam still studied very well, continuously achieving the title of excellent student, distinguished student of the school. He has won many proud awards such as: encouragement prize for excellent student in math, excellent student in English, excellent student in history at district level; third prize for excellent student in geography at district level; encouragement prize for excellent student in history grade 9 at provincial level, etc. Those achievements are not only a joy, but also a source of pride and great spiritual motivation for grandparents, helping them to have more confidence in the future of their filial and determined grandchild.
Lam is a very studious boy. Even though he has to cycle on dangerous and difficult mountain roads every day, he has never thought of giving up his dream of going to school. His spirit of overcoming difficulties and perseverance makes everyone who hears him moved and admired.
Lam's dream is simple but meaningful: to study well, become a police officer to protect people, maintain peace in society and, most importantly, to show filial piety and repay his grandparents' kindness.
MC Duong Hong Phuc could not hide his sympathy for Lam's understanding and determination, especially when he mentioned his mother with all his longing and anticipation. Right on television, he sent a sincere message to Lam's mother, hoping that she will soon return to become a strong spiritual support for her son, who is trying hard to study and nurture his dream every day.
Footballer Nguyen Quang Hai also expressed his wish that Lam's mother would return soon, because according to him, the most important thing for Lam right now is not material things, but the love and presence of his mother by his side. He was moved by Lam's extraordinary determination when he did not hesitate to go through difficult mountain roads to go to school, constantly striving and nurturing the aspiration to become a police officer to repay his grandparents.
Following the story of Lam's situation, singer Bao Tram Idol could not hold back her tears and burst into tears right on television. The image of a boy who had a father but had never received love or care because his father was not sober and had never been embraced by his mother, but always chose to understand and not blame his mother for leaving him when he was so young, made her extremely heartbroken.
Bao Tram shared: "In Lam's case, his mother left when he was only 18 months old, and he is now 15 years old. I just hope he can get rid of his inferiority complex because he doesn't have a mother, because that will not be good for the mental development of a child when he grows up. Of course, the determination and hardships will help him become a stronger tree, but at the same time, it will also be very thorny. I hope he thinks that his mother just can't come back to him, just because she doesn't have the conditions, not because she doesn't want to come back to him.”
In addition to sharing and encouraging the characters, singer Bao Tram Idol and player Nguyen Quang Hai also contributed to the challenges, helping the children bring home valuable prizes from Hoa Sen Group . formation, Vi Mai Lam's family came in third place, receiving a prize of 17 million VND. Luong Gia Huy's family came in second place, receiving a prize of 24 million VND. Truong Thi Tam's family came in first place, completing the special challenge and bringing home 60 million VND.
Feeling sorry for the difficult lives in the program, football player Nguyen Quang Hai gave Vi Mai Lam's family 15 million VND, he also gave the other 2 families 10 million VND each. Singer Bao Tram Idol also gave Tam 5 million VND from her own pocket, and gave the other 2 children 3 million VND each. MC Duong Hong Phuc gave each family 4 million VND.
This week, singer Duc Phuc continues to accompany the program Vietnamese Family Home by giving 2 families who came in second and third place, each 10 million VND. Donors and viewers who watched the program live also joined hands to support more than 100 million VND for the children in this episode.
Thus, in episode 141 of the program Vietnamese Family Home, the total amount of money given to families was more than 250 million VND, of which 101 million VND was a bonus from Hoa Sen Group.
The program Vietnamese Family Warmth airs at 8:20 pm every Friday on HTV7. The program is produced by Bee Media Company in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City Television, with the support of Hoa Sen Home Construction Materials & Interior Supermarket System (Hoa Sen Group) and Hoa Sen Plastic Pipe - Source of Happiness.
