The dream of becoming a pharmacist and the torn shirt my mother gave me touched people's hearts in "Vietnamese Family Home"

In episode 145 of the program Vietnamese Family Home, the images of children growing up early due to difficult circumstances and seriously ill parents made MC Duong Hong Phuc, actor Huynh Lap and football player Tien Linh both admire and feel sorry.

Father suffered a traumatic brain injury, mother shouldered all the worries alone

The first situation that made many people choke up was Le Minh Hieu (2016), a 4th grade student at Quang Thai Primary School. He currently lives with his parents and older sister in Dan Dien commune, Hue city.

Minh Hieu's family life was already not well-off, and in 2024, it became even more difficult when his father, Le Kim (1980), unfortunately had a serious traffic accident, resulting in a traumatic brain injury and leaving him bedridden. Although the locality and philanthropists raised 200 million VND for treatment, the miracle did not happen. Kim could not recover as before, and now has to maintain his life with medical expenses of up to 4 million VND per month.

Even though they were young, Minh Hieu and his sisters knew how to help their mother and support the family together after their father's accident.
Even though they were young, Minh Hieu and his sisters knew how to help their mother and support the family together after their father's accident.

The entire burden of the family now falls on the shoulders of Ms. Van Thi Hoa (1980) - Minh Hieu's mother. Since the incident, Ms. Hoa has been forced to put aside all her work to stay home and take care of her husband day and night, because Mr. Kim often has seizures and always needs someone by his side. Ms. Hoa is also currently suffering from migraines but does not dare to go to the doctor because of her difficult circumstances. Many times she just sits and cries alone, silently enduring the pain. Her work revolves around staying at home, occasionally a neighbor out of pity calls her to work for a few hours or gives her some water spinach to sell at the market, in exchange for food for her children.

As for Hieu’s older sister, Le Thi Bao Vi, she once intended to quit school to work to help her mother because she saw how hard it was for her. However, she was encouraged by her teachers and neighbors to continue going to school. Since then, Vi has been even more determined to study. After school hours, she works part-time at a milk tea shop, earning about 50,000 VND/day. She gives all that little money to her mother to help cover living expenses and buy medicine for her father.

Bao Vi cherishes the dream of becoming a pharmacist, with the desire to study medicine and pharmacy so that in the future she can treat and help unfortunate people like her father. However, that is still a concern in her heart, because she understands that her mother does not have enough money to pay for her to study this field. Vi has never dared to tell her mother about that dream, just because she is afraid that it will make her worry more. Minh Hieu, on the other hand, has the dream of studying to become successful. He hopes to become a traffic police officer in the future to help people.

MC Duong Hong Phuc could not help but feel sorry for Ms. Hoa's situation, taking care of her sick husband and taking care of her children. What the MC admired most was her willpower and determination in not letting her children drop out of school, even though life was extremely difficult. He understood the hardships she had to endure after her husband's accident. As a father himself, Duong Hong Phuc said that every morning before going to work, he prayed for good health, because he understood that at home there were children who needed to be taken care of.

Footballer Tien Linh also expressed his admiration for the spirit of overcoming difficulties of Bao Vi, the eldest sister in the family who not only studies hard but also works part-time to help her mother take care of her father and educate her younger brother. The maturity and understanding of the two sisters moved the male player.

In particular, the moment that made Tien Linh speechless when he heard the children talk about their daily meals consisting only of vegetables, and the meat, if any, was reserved for their father. As someone who pays attention to nutrition to maintain physical strength for competition, Tien Linh shared that he couldn't help but wonder where Hoa got the strength to continue supporting the whole family every day.

Actor Huynh Lap also gave many words of encouragement to the family. He admired Minh Hieu's maturity, but could not hide his sadness when witnessing a boy who was too young having to worry too much, losing his inherent innocence. He hoped that in the future, Hieu could regain his true childhood. At the same time, Huynh Lap encouraged Vi and Hieu to study hard and keep their dreams. To further motivate the two siblings, the actor decided to give the family an electric bicycle, helping Vi have a means of transportation to take her younger brother to school every day.

Mother has cancer, father works hard to support the whole family

Another case that touched viewers in the program was Cao Minh Hung (2013), currently a 7th grader at Phu Duong Secondary School. Minh Hung is currently living with his parents and younger brother in Duong No Ward, Hue City. Hung's family had a warm life, although not very well off. However, an unexpected incident occurred when his mother, Ms. Tran Thi Thuy Van, was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer.

According to the treatment regimen, Ms. Van must undergo 18 chemotherapy sessions, each costing about 5-6 million VND. Up to now, she has only completed 5 chemotherapy sessions, while the treatment path ahead is still long and arduous.

Ms. Van fights her illness with the quiet care of her two children, while Mr. Hung is still working hard to make a living for his sick wife and two young children.

Hung's father, Mr. Cao Duc, is currently the main breadwinner in the family, doing many freelance jobs such as porter and construction worker to take care of his wife and two children. His unstable monthly income is only 3-4.5 million VND, but he is still determined to stick with it, determined to cure his wife's illness to the end: "Even if there is only a little hope, I will cure my wife to the end. I don't want my children to have to live the life of losing their mother too soon . "

The family currently lives in a small house that is seriously degraded. Every rainy season, water leaks everywhere. There is no dry place to rest, everything is old and smells of mold. The living space becomes even colder as Ms. Van’s health deteriorates.

Since his mother got sick, Minh Hung is no longer the carefree boy he used to be. He has become more mature and thinks more about his family. Hung often cares about his mother's health, quietly sitting by her bedside to take care of her after painful chemotherapy sessions. He often saves the money his mother gives him for school and gives it back to her to buy food. His biggest wish now is for his mother to recover soon, so that the family can return to the happy days of the past.

Amidst the pain of chemotherapy and the worries of making ends meet, holding hands is the only thing Ms. Van can give her children – simple but priceless.

Faced with Hung’s situation, actor Huynh Lap could not hide his emotions. The actor burst into tears, ran to hug Hung and his brothers, and continuously wiped away their tears. He was even more choked up when he learned that Hung wore a torn shirt to the recording because it was a gift his mother bought for him, although old, it contained sacred sentiments.

MC Duong Hong Phuc also expressed his admiration for Hung. He said that Hung is a strong child who knows how to take care of his mother, give his younger siblings delicious food, and is independent in cooking. The male MC sent words of encouragement to Van, hoping that she would stay optimistic to have more motivation to fight the disease and continue to be a strong spiritual support for her children.

Footballer Tien Linh understands the children's anxiety of being away from their parents.

Following the circumstances of the characters in the program, football player Tien Linh could not hide his sadness when witnessing the children facing so many difficulties. They not only have to study hard but also have to shoulder the worry of taking care of their sick parents, along with the anxiety that one day they may have to leave their parents, which makes him choke up.

Tien Linh said that for him, family affection is sacred. He himself experienced a childhood without parents, so he somewhat understands that feeling. “I also had to be away from my parents since I was little. I lived away from my mother for the first 8 years of my life, and I didn’t see her for the first time until I was 8 years old. When I was 2 years old, my father also left his hometown to Binh Duong to start a business. Since then, I have lived with my grandparents. Being away from my parents at an early age inevitably made my childhood filled with sadness and self-pity ,” Tien Linh shared.

Footballer Tien Linh shared about his childhood without parents, deeply sympathizing with the circumstances of the children in the program.

However, when witnessing the circumstances in the Vietnamese Family Home , Tien Linh said that what he had experienced was nothing compared to the pain and pressure that the children in the program were facing. He emotionally said: “Luckily, I had grandparents to take care of me, so my childhood was still warm. Later, when my mother returned and the family reunited, it was a great joy and happiness. Even happier was that when my parents were by my side, gathered together, my family also had a more prosperous life .

Understanding the value of family love and the disadvantages of living far from parents, Tien Linh always wants to accompany the children in the program. The male player said that he has secretly transferred money to support the characters many times, with the desire to give them more motivation to overcome adversity and firmly step on the journey to adulthood.

Besides his passion for football, Tien Linh also spends time on charity work. For him, participating in the Vietnamese Family Warmth program is a great honor, when he can directly meet, listen and share with the less fortunate. Although he has missed many appointments due to his busy training schedule, whenever he has time, Tien Linh always prioritizes the program.

During this recording session, Tien Linh used his own money to give 3 families, each family 15 million VND. The meaningful action of the male player received much appreciation from the crew and audience of the program. He also expressed his desire to continue to accompany the Vietnamese Family Home for a long time to spread more love.

Watch the program Vietnamese Family Warmth broadcast at 20:20 every Friday on HTV7 channel. The program is produced by Bee Media Company in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City Television, with the support of Hoa Sen Home Construction Materials & Interior Supermarket System ( Hoa Sen Group ) and Hoa Sen Plastic Pipe - Source of Happiness.
