Quang Nam Club rescue failed because sponsor is still 'missing'?

In less than 10 days, Quang Nam Club has gone through all the ups and downs: disbanding, asking to return, and then maybe… quietly leaving the game. Despite having potential investors, the lack of determination and transparency in financial commitments has prevented the team from remaining in the professional arena.

On July 21, 2025, Quang Nam Football Development Joint Stock Company officially sent a notice to VPF and VFF about withdrawing from V-League 2025–2026, at the same time dissolving the team and merging the entire football system with Da Nang Club.

This move shocked the football world, as Quang Nam is a traditional football team in the Central region, having won the V-League championship in 2017.

However, just a few days after the announcement of “farewell”, Quang Nam Club suddenly sent a letter asking to return to participate in V-League, with the reason that “there is a way out”, talking about a potential sponsor wanting to invest capital to rescue the team. According to some sources, this investor is willing to spend 100 billion VND to help the club stabilize its operations and compete again in the highest arena of Vietnamese football.

Many promises, no action

Despite high expectations from fans, up to now – the end of July 2025, the mentioned sponsor has not yet made any official written commitment to invest. Financial, legal conditions and signing deadlines have not been completed on time as required by VPF.

VPF has sent many documents requesting Quang Nam to confirm their participation in the tournament before July 23, but by the deadline, the club still could not provide any specific evidence of its financial capacity.

As a result, Quang Nam is considered to have officially withdrawn from V-League 2025–2026.

No chance to "rescue" Quang Nam team at the last minute?

The request to return to the tournament without a clear financial commitment is considered “half-hearted” and unrealistic. The opportunity for Quang Nam seems to have completely closed. Currently, the option of adding a replacement team is being urgently considered by VPF and VFF. Binh Phuoc Club – the team ranked 2nd in the first division last season – is a strong candidate for promotion to the V-League if approved.
