At exactly 5pm, the flight carrying the coaching staff and players of U23 Vietnam along with the prestigious championship trophy landed at Tan Son Nhat airport. From early morning, many fans were present, carrying red flags with yellow stars, banners and drums to welcome the heroes back.
After about an hour of immigration procedures, the whole team appeared radiantly at the airport lobby, receiving flowers and warm congratulations from leaders and fans.
Coach Kim Sang Sik led the delegation, striding proudly next to captain Khuat Van Khang, who lifted the Southeast Asian U23 Championship trophy, symbolizing the glorious victory of Vietnamese youth football.
Striker Nguyen Dinh Bac, who won the title of Best Player of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Tournament, also appeared confidently in front of the camera, receiving special attention from the media and fans.
Vietnam U23 team won the Southeast Asian U23 Championship after a thrilling 1-0 victory over Indonesia U23. With this achievement, Vietnam U23 team has made history in regional football by winning the Southeast Asian youth tournament for three consecutive times, affirming its leading position.
Many fans could not hide their excitement when they were able to interact directly with the entire U23 Vietnam team after many hours of waiting at the airport.
The U23 players happily interacted and took souvenir photos with fans, creating memorable moments.
Thanh Huy (17 years old), an enthusiastic fan, was at the airport three hours before landing, carrying a special shirt printed with many signatures of the Vietnamese players, eagerly waiting for the champions to return.
Mr. Sang (Phu Nhuan) shared: “I am very happy to have the signatures of coach Kim Sang Sik and captain Khuat Van Khang. Khang is also my favorite player in this young team. I hope the whole team will maintain this form and aim for the best results at the upcoming SEA Games.”
With a hat-trick of championships in the Southeast Asian U23 tournament, Vietnam has risen to the top in terms of the number of titles won at this tournament, creating a clear gap compared to other teams in the region. Meanwhile, U23 Thailand and U23 Indonesia, two teams that were highly rated, have only won the championship once, in 2005 and 2019 respectively.
