Speaking with Dan Tri reporter , the leader of Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee said that, implementing the direction of the Prime Minister, the Provincial People's Committee is urgently developing the project "Researching the possibility of forming Ninh Binh International Airport".

After having the project, the province will submit it to the Ministry of Construction for consideration and report to the Prime Minister to add it to the Master Plan for the development of the national airport and seaport system for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.
The leader added that the plan to build Ninh Binh International Airport in Liem Tuyen ward that the province previously presented to the Ministry of Construction was only a draft.
“The province plans to locate Ninh Binh International Airport in Liem Tuyen because this location has a relatively convenient location and distance to important traffic hubs in the region,” said the leader.
Before proposing the construction of Ninh Binh International Airport in Liem Tuyen, Ninh Binh province invited managers and experts in the aviation field to survey and consider all factors related to the planning of the international airport here.
Initial survey results show that the location of Ninh Binh province's planned international airport is about 80km from Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi); Cat Bi Airport (Hai Phong) about 85km; Gia Binh Airport (under study) about 63km and Tho Xuan Airport (Thanh Hoa) about 85km, in line with the general planning.
In addition, this location is also far from stations on the North-South high-speed railway line that is about to be built, specifically: Phu Ly Station about 5km, Ninh Binh Station about 43km, Nam Dinh Station about 17km; About 8km from the center of the old Phu Ly city (now Phu Ly ward); Hoa Lu (old) about 30km; Nam Dinh (old) about 22km, convenient for traveling in the area.

“The decision to locate Ninh Binh International Airport in Liem Tuyen must be carefully considered and evaluated based on many factors. Therefore, the province is continuing to invite reputable domestic consulting units, coordinate with international aviation consulting experts to survey and build a truly convincing project before making a decision,” the leader of Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee added.
According to this leader, planning and building an international airport depends on and is related to many factors, not as simple as planning and building a road bus station or a waterway port.
Specifically, international airports, in addition to being located in a location with convenient traffic connections, must also follow the planning of national airports, be located in a location suitable for wind direction, have no fog, and not be located in the take-off and landing zones of other airports...
Ninh Binh province's viewpoint is not to plan and build an airport too close to the administrative and urban center because the impact of the airport will not develop. This area near the provincial center will be reserved for urban and service development, especially to develop into an international tourism center that the province is aiming for.
According to the proposal of Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee, Ninh Binh International Airport is planned to meet level 4E standards according to the classification of the International Civil Aviation Organization, with 2 parallel dependent runways; the total planning area is about 720 hectares.
The initial design capacity of this airport is about 10 million passengers/year; there is land reserve for expansion to meet development needs in the next phases.
