Russia-Türkiye talks: No document signed despite 'highly constructive spirit'

No documents were signed following talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Tayyip Erdogan on September 4.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the meeting between the Russian and Turkish leaders took place in a highly constructive spirit and the discussion in the resort city of Sochi lasted an hour and a half longer than expected.

The agenda includes the situation in Ukraine, Syria, Libya, the grain deal and the creation of a gas hub in Türkiye.

Speaking at the start of talks with his Turkish counterpart Tayyip Erdogan, Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed that the two leaders had raised bilateral relations to "a very good and very high level".

During the talks, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan affirmed that the Ukrainian grain export corridor was the most important issue in the discussions.

In addition, the two sides have made progress on the construction of a second nuclear power plant in Sinop in northern Türkiye. The construction of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant is said to be progressing effectively and creating about 25,000 jobs.
