In August, the atmosphere at Kep military airport (Bac Ninh) is more bustling and urgent than ever. Squadrons from all over gather here to prepare for mission A80 - flying a military parade to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.
Amidst the roar of jet engines, the aviation engineers of the 927th Air Force Regiment (371st Division) and the 935th Air Force Regiment (370th Division) under the Air Defense - Air Force Service are engrossed in their work. They do not directly control the controls, but the fate of each flight is in their hands.
In his typical technical suit, Nguyen Quoc Tuy, Head of the Su-30MK2 Technical Team, serial number 8573, and his teammates are carefully examining every detail on the body of the modern fighter. From the landing gear, the rudder, the cockpit door to the smallest screw, everything is checked with a professional eye and strict procedures.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Tuy, Head of the Su-30MK2 aircraft technical team, serial number 8573, is busy with his teammates checking every detail on the fuselage of the aircraft.
Technical inspection is carried out carefully and strictly at each stage.
“Our job requires meticulousness and absolutely no mistakes. We usually have to be at the airport from 3am to prepare for the early flight. The entire process of checking, fueling, equipment and handing over to the pilots takes about 2 hours, requiring high concentration from the whole team,” Tuy shared.
Each Su-30MK2 is likened to a “special patient”, with its own team of “medical doctors” consisting of all specialties: engines, aviation equipment, radio electronics, weapons, electronic warfare... They coordinate smoothly, reporting each step to the commander. Only when all departments confirm “safety is ensured”, is the “king cobra” allowed to roll onto the runway.
Preparing for the A80 mission this time brought a special feeling. Mr. Tuy proudly said: “In addition to our daily work, this time we are very honored to serve in such an important event of the country. Being able to contribute a small part to the success of the Parade is a great pride for each of us technical soldiers”.
The pre-flight inspection process requires the technician to comply with flight preparation procedures and professional experience.
Everything is thoroughly checked to ensure a safe flight.

The representative of the 927th Air Force Regiment emphasized: “The technical team is the first to approach and also the last to say goodbye to the aircraft before take-off. They are the final safety checkpoint, protecting the lives of pilots and the army's precious equipment.”
The work of the “ground doctors” takes place silently, but their role is extremely important. Their precision and dedication are the foundation for every spectacular takeoff and safe landing.
When the Su-30MK2s roared in the sky, successfully completing their training missions, the technical soldiers on the ground could breathe a sigh of relief. For them, that was the greatest reward.
“Every time we see the plane return safely, we feel secure and proud that we have completed our mission,” Mr. Tuy shared with a strong smile, his eyes following the fighter jet that had just landed, ready for the next “visit”.
