Appearing in episode 150 of the Vietnamese Family Home program hosted by MC Dai Nghia, singer Ngo Lan Huong received much love from the audience thanks to her simplicity and closeness. Notably, the singer of “Di giua troi ruc ro” brought her mother to watch the program. The female singer shared her joy and happiness when the program was held right in her hometown of Thanh Hoa.

When asked by MC Dai Nghia if he felt pressured when participating in the program in his hometown, the singer born in 1998 confidently affirmed: “I don’t feel any pressure because this is my hometown. On the contrary, the encouragement from many audiences who are my fellow countrymen gives me even more energy.”

Accompanying Ngo Lan Huong as a guest is singer Nguyen Thai Hoc. The singer, born in 2000, brought positive energy and said that he had prepared himself physically to be ready to overcome the challenges of the program. However, when faced with the difficult circumstances of the characters, both artists could not help but be moved and choked up many times in front of the camera.

An orphan boy with a dream of becoming a chef, yearning to patch up the poor meals from his childhood

The first case is Nguyen Van Anh (2014), a 6th grade student at Thach Binh Secondary School, Phu Son Commune, Ninh Binh Province. His parents divorced when Van Anh was only 3 years old. Since then, he followed his mother to live with his maternal grandparents, while his older brother Nguyen Huu Duc (2011) lived with his father.

The grandmother gave Van Anh and his mother a small plot of land to build a temporary house. His mother worked as a hired hand to support her children, but due to poor health, her job was unstable. At the end of July 2025, Van Anh's mother passed away after a period of silently fighting liver cancer. That loss left a huge mental shock for the 11-year-old boy.

Currently, during the day, Van Anh stays at home to burn incense for his mother, and at night he sleeps at his aunt’s house, Ms. Quach Thi Nhu (born 1975). Not only does Ms. Nhu take care of Van Anh, she also takes care of Ms. Nguyen Thi Ban – his maternal grandmother, who is 80 years old, has had Parkinson’s disease for more than 20 years, and is no longer able to walk.

Although not related by blood, Ms. Nhu still loves Van Anh like her own child.

Ms. Nhu's life was already difficult, her income from her hired work was only about 2-3 million VND per month, and she had to raise two small children. However, when Van Anh's mother passed away, she did not hesitate to take on the additional responsibility of taking care of her husband's nephew, a child not related by blood, but whom she loved like her own child.

Van Anh's father, due to poor health and difficult family circumstances, could not take him home to take care of him even though he wanted to. Van Anh was an affectionate and understanding boy who dreamed of having a complete family with both parents and being close to his older brother.

MC Dai Nghia could not hide his emotion when he saw Van Anh's sad eyes. He shared: "The pain of losing her mother is still too new, just over a month, so it is understandable that she cannot accept it yet." The male MC choked up even more when he learned that her dream was to become a chef to cook many delicious dishes, meals that she had lacked throughout her childhood. "Normally, children often dream of becoming doctors, teachers, ... but Van Anh only wants to cook. Perhaps the lack of daily meals has planted a special dream in her heart ," he said emotionally.

Artists expressed their admiration for Ms. Nhu's silent sacrifice for Van Anh.

MC Dai Nghia also expressed his admiration for the heart of Ms. Nhu, a devoted woman who, regardless of difficulties, quietly extended her hand to take care of her husband's nephew in times of hardship. He reminded Van Anh to always respect and love his aunt-in-law.

Singer Ngo Lan Huong choked up when listening to the story: “The boy was only 11 years old but had to face such great pain. He felt sorry for himself for losing his mother and not being able to live with his father, but he did not blame him. He understood that his father was in poor health and did not want to be a burden to him. His understanding made me very sad.”

Accompanying the program, singer Nguyen Thai Hoc was moved to share his admiration for Ms. Nhu - a hard-working woman who took care of her mother-in-law, children and grandchildren all by herself after her husband passed away. He was especially impressed when she said: "Now I am suffering, so I have to try harder so that my children and grandchildren do not suffer like me" - a confession that is both sincere and full of love.

Muong boy lost his mother, takes care of his bedridden grandfather, helps his grandmother

One situation that brought tears to the audience in the program was Truong Khanh Duong (2013), a Muong ethnic, a 7th grade student at Ngoc Khe Secondary School, Ngoc Lac Commune, Thanh Hoa Province. He currently lives with his grandparents in a poor family.

From birth, Khanh Duong did not know who his father was. He grew up with the love and care of his mother and his maternal family. However, his life soon fell into tragedy when his mother passed away in 2019 after more than 12 years of fighting a malignant goiter. At that time, Khanh Duong was only a first grader.

Since then, she has lived with her grandparents. But the storm has not stopped, when Khanh Duong entered 2nd grade, her grandfather suddenly suffered a stroke, was paralyzed, could not walk and had to depend completely on caregivers.

Grandfather Khanh Duong was bedridden for many years after a stroke, completely dependent on his wife and grandchildren for all his daily activities.

The burden of the family now falls on Mrs. Pham Thi Tien (1961) - Duong's grandmother. Over 60 years old, in poor health, but due to circumstances, Mrs. Tien does not dare to go to the doctor and only buys medicine to take. Currently, she works as a dishwasher and waitress at a restaurant. However, because she has to take care of her sick husband and young grandchildren, her work is irregular, her income is only about 2 million VND/month.

Every month, Khanh Duong receives 750,000 VND in orphanage allowance, an additional 150,000 VND from the school and some rice during Tet. Despite being young, Duong is very understanding. After school, he always helps his grandmother take care of his grandfather and do housework. In the morning, he also wakes up early to go with his grandmother to the restaurant to help wash dishes.

The boy always misses his mother. Every time he mentions his mother, Khanh Duong bursts into tears. He shares that his biggest wish is to earn a lot of money to help his grandmother, not wanting her to have to work hard day and night anymore.

Seeing the Muong boy sobbing because of his mother, MC Dai Nghia could not hold back his tears. He continuously encouraged and comforted him and could not hide his tears while talking. The male MC expressed his deep admiration for Mrs. Tien - a woman who had gone through so many hardships, raised her children, and then when her children died, she worked hard to take care of her grandchildren and her sick husband.

Singer Nguyen Thai Hoc choked up when he heard Khanh Duong say:

Singer Ngo Lan Huong also choked up when she heard the story. The singer was moved by a boy who was so young and had suffered so much, never felt a father's love, and lost his mother before he grew up. She continuously comforted and consoled him, and promised to support him with singer Nguyen Thai Hoc in the challenges of the program, hoping to share and help the families overcome their difficulties.
