Da Nang: 100% completion of removing temporary and dilapidated houses

From 2023 to August 2025, Da Nang has completed 100% of the plan to eliminate 12,298 temporary and dilapidated houses, including 7,257 newly built houses and 5,041 repaired houses.

That is the information in the conference summarizing the work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the period of 2023 - 2025 organized by the People's Committee of Da Nang city recently.

Accordingly, the total number of temporary and dilapidated houses of the 3 groups of subjects in Da Nang city according to Directive No. 42/CT-TTg, Official Dispatch No. 117/CD-TTg for the period 2023-2025 is: 12,298 houses, including 7,257 newly built houses; repaired: 5,041 houses. Of which, Group 1 - People with meritorious services, relatives of martyrs: 2,935 houses; Group 2 - Poor households, near-poor households according to National Target Programs: 5,326 houses; Group 3 - Poor households, near-poor households, households with housing difficulties outside of Group 1 and Group 2 mentioned above and according to the Prime Minister 's Launch Program, Resolutions of the City People's Council are 4,037 houses.

Through inspection and survey, the number of temporary, dilapidated houses is especially concentrated in mountainous communes, where many ethnic minorities live in poor districts of the former Quang Nam province. Houses made of bamboo, roofed with old corrugated iron, not able to withstand harsh weather have become a concern for many households. Especially during the rainy and stormy season, these houses are prone to collapse, directly endangering people's lives and property.

Faced with this situation, the Da Nang City Party Committee and the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee (formerly) have issued many documents and directives on eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses. Since 2024, when the Central Government launched the program "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses", the direction has been further strengthened, with regular urging to all levels, sectors and localities.

In particular, the city has mobilized a total of more than 705 billion VND, of which the central budget supported more than 323 billion VND, the city budget more than 245 billion VND and socialized resources reached more than 136 billion VND. From 2023 to August 12, 2025, Da Nang has completed 100% of the plan to eliminate 12,298 temporary and dilapidated houses, including 7,257 newly built houses and 5,041 repaired houses.

However, not only reaching the finish line early, after more than 3 years of implementation, the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Da Nang and Quang Nam (old) also recorded many creative models and good practices in implementing a humane program with practical meaning, aiming to help ethnic minorities, the poor, and policy beneficiaries settle down in solid houses.

According to the Central Government's regulations, the support level is only 60 million VND/household for new construction and 30 million VND/household for repair, but the old city of Da Nang has increased it to 100 million VND/household for new construction and 40 million VND/household for repair for people with meritorious services and relatives of martyrs; 80 million VND/household for new construction and 30 million VND/household for repair for poor and near-poor households.

As for the highland communes of the old Quang Nam province such as: Dak Pring has a model of "shock workers helping people to remove temporary houses of Ta Rieng youth"; Phuoc Cong commune has a model of "Welders and masons helping people to remove temporary houses of Gie Trieng youth"; Nam Tra My commune is considered a bright spot with a model of total mobilization, connecting the local community with 92% of households voluntarily participating, mobilizing 3,000 working days and 1.17 billion VND from socialization for the work of removing temporary houses.

According to Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, "Eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses is a program of profound political and social significance, demonstrating the sense of responsibility, determination and great efforts of the entire political system and society, and is a sentiment and gratitude sent to families of policy beneficiaries, relatives of martyrs, poor households, near-poor households and families in difficult circumstances."

Thus, after more than 3 years of implementation, despite many difficulties and obstacles, with the strong direction of the government leaders and the consensus of the people, Da Nang city has reached the finish line early in implementing the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. This result brings many important meanings, contributing to improving the quality of life and material and spiritual life of the people, encouraging people to escape poverty sustainably../.
