It is a special continuation of 2 generations in the family of young scientists with pride walking on the historic Ba Dinh Square.
A proud moment of continuity between two generations
Among the ranks of Vietnamese intellectuals participating in the parade at the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, Dr. Nguyen Viet Huong - Outstanding Young Vietnamese Face of 2024 felt happy and grateful for this great honor.
Sharing with PV Tien Phong , Dr. Huong said that his mother - Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Thi Bich Lan (born in 1950, living in Ha Tinh ) was also honored to be one of three female police officers of Ha Tinh province to participate in the female police officer group at the parade to celebrate the founding anniversary of the country on September 2, 1975.
"I feel that the formation and eternal development of the country is built from the continuation of the precious patriotic tradition of our people and my family," said the Outstanding Young Vietnamese Face of 2024 - Dr. Nguyen Viet Huong.
Dr. Huong said that after 2 training sessions, each session, from the first uneven steps until the whole team was in order, the Intellectuals had to practice seriously, patiently and with discipline.
Under the sweltering sun or sudden rains of Hanoi , everyone's clothes were soaked with sweat, but no one complained, because in each person's heart there was always a flame of pride and honor, putting the A80 mission as the number one priority and determined to complete the mission.

Dr. Nguyen Viet Huong is Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering, Phenikaa University, in the ranks of Vietnamese intellectuals participating in the parade at the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2, 2025).
"Each steady step, each rhythmically raised arm has become a symbol of solidarity and responsibility. Every time the marching song begins, I clearly feel the harmony between the individual and the collective, between the present and tradition. That feeling reminds me of the heroic history of the nation, when so many generations sacrificed for the country to have today," said the young scientist.
Walking on the historic Ba Dinh Square, where Uncle Ho read the Declaration of Independence in 1945, is a great honor that not everyone has the opportunity to experience. Mr. Huong was also very moved and felt small before the flow of history, but at the same time, he also deeply felt the responsibility of Vietnamese intellectuals today.
That is to constantly learn, innovate, and contribute to bring the country's science, technology, and education to new heights, standing shoulder to shoulder with the world's powers as Uncle Ho always wished.
"National pride and love for the homeland are rising, urging me to continue to strive on the path of research, teaching and training, to contribute a small part to the development and prosperity of the Fatherland. Patriotism is not just a slogan, we need to realize it through actions and try to realize it through meaningful scientific works, especially in the fierce global competition", Dr. Huong said.

Also sharing that proud feeling with reporters, Dr. Huong's mother, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Lan, still clearly remembers the proud moment of 50 years ago.
"At that time, Ha Tinh province selected 6 people to participate in the selection for the team. I was lucky to be 1 of 3 people selected for the official team of the Female Police Officers. We practiced for 6 months. The facilities at that time were still rudimentary and lacking. Our teammates shared cups of water, but the spirit and emotions were always overflowing," Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Thi Bich Lan shared.
Having experienced that moment, Mrs. Lan always encouraged her son during practice. Because it was an honor and sacredness to contribute a small part in the important day of the Country.
Always proud and admire the ideals of dedication of parents
Besides his mother, his father, veteran Nguyen Viet Luan, is also a source of great pride for Dr. Nguyen Viet Huong.
Mr. Luan was honored to be in the ranks of the Vietnam People's Navy, assigned to the 7th Naval Radio Reconnaissance Company, later the 471st Technical Reconnaissance Center. The unit had a particularly important task in grasping the enemy's plots, tricks and activities, promptly informing the Navy and coordinating units to deploy combat plans.
At the end of 1963, Mr. Nguyen Viet Luan was present in Quang Tri as a member of Team Five, the Technical Reconnaissance Unit supporting the 126th Forward Group, later the 126th Naval Special Forces Brigade. He was attached to Quang Tri from 1963 to 1973, present during times of fierce fighting.

Quang Tri was extremely fierce at that time. In the sky, enemy reconnaissance planes were constantly giving guidance, making it very difficult for our forces to operate at that time. The military intelligence unit had to know when the B52s would arrive, when the gunboats would attack, and when the enemy's armored tanks would rush out to attack," said Mr. Luan.
According to Mr. Luan, every day, technical reconnaissance soldiers have to work from 10 to 12 hours, so they are humorously compared to the "divine brains and holy ears" of the Navy, both highly focused to ensure secrecy and mobile to capture signals.
"Born into a family with a rich revolutionary tradition, our generation is always proud and admires our parents' love and ideal of dedication to the country. That is why that tradition has deeply penetrated my consciousness and motivated me to go further on my academic journey, as a way to contribute to the country in peacetime," Dr. Nguyen Viet Huong shared.
