Tennis player Nguyen Thuy Linh returns to the highest ranking of her career

The achievement of reaching the round of 16 of the strongest players in the women's singles at the recently concluded World Championship in Paris (France) helped Thuy Linh accumulate an additional 6,000 points, bringing her total score to 49,450 points. Thanks to that, she 'jumped' from 22nd to 18th place, equaling her career record achieved on July 22, 2025.

The World Championships is one of the two most prestigious events in badminton, along with the Olympics. These two tournaments have similar scores in the BWF rankings, both awarding 14,500 points to the champion. Thuy Linh entered the top 16 strongest players of the tournament, receiving 6,000 points.

Currently, Thuy Linh is the only Vietnamese female tennis player in the world's Top 100. Vu Thi Trang is ranked 127th with 13,250 points.

In the men's singles, both Nguyen Hai Dang and Le Duc Phat dropped in rank after being eliminated in the first round of the world tournament. Hai Dang dropped 5 places to 62nd (24,150 points), Duc Phat dropped 13 places to 83rd (20,360 points).

According to the plan, Thuy Linh will participate in the Vietnam Open Badminton Tournament 2025 taking place at Nguyen Du Stadium (HCMC) from September 9 to 14. She currently holds the record of 3 consecutive championships and aims to win the championship for the 4th time. In the first round, Thuy Linh will face Chinese Taiwanese player Liang Ting-Yu (ranked 68th in the world).

Thuy Linh's biggest goal this year is the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand next December.
