U.23 Vietnam has a smooth start
On the evening of September 3, the U.23 Vietnam team opened the qualifying round of the 2026 AFC U.23 Championship with a 2-0 victory over the U.23 Bangladesh team. Dinh Bac provided a perfect assist for Ngoc My to score successfully in the 15th minute, marking his first official goal for the U.23 Vietnam team.
After a first half of pressure but only one goal, coach Kim Sang-sik's students had a rather exciting second half after the three attackers Van Khang, Quoc Viet, and Le Viktor entered the field. A series of intense attacks helped create Le Viktor's goals in the 83rd minute.
This victory helped the U.23 Vietnam team temporarily lead Group C, the qualifying round of the 2027 U.23 Asian Cup with 3 points and a goal difference of +2. The U.23 Yemen team, after defeating U.23 Singapore 2-1 in the previous match, temporarily ranked second.

After a stable start, the U.23 Vietnam team and 3 away teams will have 2 days to rest and regain their strength in Phu Tho province, before entering the second round of matches on September 6, still at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho province).
At 7 p.m., coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will aim to defend their top spot in Group C by winning another match, this time against U.23 Singapore.
Before that, at 4 p.m., the U.23 Yemen team will meet U.23 Bangladesh. The goal of the West Asian team will also be a second victory, to create capital for the "final" match with U.23 Vietnam in the last match taking place on September 9, deciding the top position in Group C and a ticket to the 2026 AFC U-23 Championship.
