On the afternoon of September 1, in Hanoi , Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh chaired a meeting to pay tribute to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and people with revolutionary contributions in the capital and provinces and cities on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).
The meeting was attended by 19 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Armed Forces Heroes, Labor Heroes in the resistance war, wounded soldiers, revolutionary soldiers imprisoned by the enemy from Hanoi and many localities, and representatives of leaders of relevant departments and branches.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh sent his respectful greetings, warm greetings and best wishes to the Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the Armed Forces, Labor Heroes, wounded soldiers and revolutionary soldiers imprisoned by the enemy.
He emphasized that 80 years ago, under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, our people achieved the victory of the August Revolution, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam - now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. National Day September 2 is a brilliant milestone in the history of the nation, associated with the independence and freedom exchanged for the blood and sacrifice of previous generations.

The Chairman of the City People's Committee affirmed: "The capital Hanoi, a place rich in revolutionary tradition, has had many outstanding sons who fought and sacrificed for independence and freedom. Every inch of land, every street of the capital today bears the mark of history, is soaked with sweat, blood and tears of heroes, martyrs, wounded soldiers and those who have contributed to the revolution."
According to him, the government and people of the capital will forever remember the heroic martyrs, heroic Vietnamese mothers, heroes of the armed forces, wounded soldiers, and revolutionary soldiers who were imprisoned by the enemy. These are people who devoted their youth, blood, bones, and even their whole lives to the cause of national liberation, national reunification, and the construction and protection of the Fatherland.
Honor and pride
Also at the meeting, Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh said that today the Capital was honored to welcome 7 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, including 4 mothers from Hanoi and 3 mothers representing the 3 regions of North - Central - South from Bac Ninh , Ha Tinh, Can Tho. The mothers have experienced great loss, dedicating their loved ones to the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
In addition, the meeting was also attended by 2 Heroes of the Armed Forces, 3 Heroes of Labor in the resistance war, 4 wounded soldiers and 3 revolutionary soldiers who were imprisoned by the enemy from Hanoi, Quang Tri and Phu Tho. These are living witnesses who made important contributions to the victory in the spring of 1975, bringing the country back to unity.

The Chairman of the City People's Committee emphasized: "What has been done cannot be compared to the boundless sacrifice and dedication. “The country has peace today thanks to the contributions of many heroic martyrs and heroic Vietnamese mothers. Every National Day brings back deep emotions in me, especially since 1975 when the country was unified. I hope the country will achieve the goal of 'rich people, strong country, democracy, equality, civilization', including the capital Hanoi", Mr. Tran Manh Hien affirmed.
Vietnamese Heroic Mother Le Thi Ba (88 years old, Long My ward, Can Tho) was also moved when attending the 80th National Day Celebration in Hanoi and receiving affection and gifts from the City leaders. "I am very happy to see the streets of Hanoi bright with flags and flowers, and people excitedly preparing to celebrate the holiday," she shared.
Meanwhile, Vietnamese Heroic Mother Le Thi Manh (84 years old, group 23 Dinh Cong, Hanoi) expressed her joy: "Before, we lived very hard and miserable lives, so now we are very excited to see the rich and beautiful capital."
Practical policy, taking care of people with meritorious services In the first 8 months of 2025, Hanoi spent a total of VND 2,577 billion on preferential treatment for people with meritorious services, supporting 76,462 people with meritorious services and their relatives. Of which, monthly allowances were VND 1,869 billion; one-time allowances were VND 180 billion; Lunar New Year gifts from the Central Government were VND 36 billion and from the City's source were VND 175 billion; on April 30, the Central Government spent VND 60 billion and the City spent VND 185 billion; on July 27, it was VND 27 billion; and nursing expenses were VND 45 billion. The city also organized 6 delegations to visit martyrs' cemeteries in the provinces and coordinated to organize many meetings with people with meritorious services, historical witnesses, and revolutionary veterans. |
