Vietnam and Türkiye sign defense cooperation agreement

On July 23, within the framework of a working visit to Türkiye, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Deputy Minister of National Defense, led a delegation from the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense to meet with Mr. Yasar Guler, Minister of National Defense of Türkiye.

Here, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien presented a letter from General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense of Vietnam, inviting Mr. Yasar Guler to visit Vietnam in the near future.

The Vietnamese Deputy Minister of National Defense affirmed that the decision of the two countries' Defense Ministries to send permanent Defense Attaches to each country will contribute to promoting defense cooperation between the two countries to become increasingly practical and in-depth.

Vietnam is ready to create all favorable conditions for Türkiye to deploy a Defense Attaché Office in Vietnam as soon as possible.

Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien suggested that the two sides study and strengthen cooperation in the following areas: delegation exchange, training, overcoming the consequences of bombs and mines left over from the war, defense industry; promoting cooperation in UN peacekeeping , cyber security, and responding to non-traditional challenges.

Meanwhile, Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler hopes to strengthen bilateral defense cooperation with Vietnam, is ready to promote delegation exchanges at all levels, human resource training, defense industry, naval and army cooperation, etc.

Regarding defense industry cooperation, Türkiye is ready to cooperate with Vietnam, in accordance with the needs and capabilities of each side.

The two countries' defense ministries signed an agreement on defense cooperation.

Also on July 23, Deputy Minister Hoang Xuan Chien and Mr. Musa Heybet, Deputy Minister of Defense of Türkiye signed an agreement between the Ministry of Defense of Vietnam and the Ministry of Defense of Türkiye on defense cooperation.

The signing of the agreement on defense cooperation between the two countries marks an important development in the defense cooperation relationship between the two countries, creating a corridor and framework to promote defense cooperation in exchanging delegations at all levels, sharing strategic issues of mutual concern, training, defense industry... actively contributing to strengthening the Vietnam - Türkiye relationship, in which defense cooperation is increasingly becoming more substantial and effective.
