The Sa Huynh cultural archaeological relic was ranked as a special national relic by the Prime Minister on December 29, 2022, including 6 locations: Thanh Duc, Long Thanh, Phu Khuong, Cham Pa relic complex, An Khe lagoon and An Khe dam of Cua Lo river, with the protected area of zone I and zone II being more than 500 hectares.

Based on the assessment that the Sa Huynh cultural archaeological relic meets a number of criteria of outstanding global value, integrity and authenticity according to the Guidelines for the Implementation of the UNESCO World Heritage Convention, and at the same time, to enhance the effectiveness of conservation, exploitation and promotion of cultural heritage values, Quang Ngai province has proactively carried out research and built a world heritage dossier for the Sa Huynh cultural archaeological relic.

The Sa Huynh cultural archaeological relics are expected to continue to be expanded at archaeological sites that have been excavated and researched for protection. The archaeological sites have been researched and preserved with very good quality underground, the status of the Sa Huynh cultural archaeological relics with the surrounding space is almost intact, showing the diversity of the residents' living environment, the exchange with contemporary archaeological cultures in the area. The authenticity of the Sa Huynh cultural relics is guaranteed, at the archaeological sites, the structural characteristics of the cultural layer of the residential site, the shape of the burial areas of the Sa Huynh residents are still intact. The relics and artifacts discovered and excavated are preserved by a new method that has preserved the entire structure of the jar tomb, currently being preserved and displayed at the Quang Ngai Provincial Museum.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ngai province said: "Currently, the province is focusing on building a plan to complete the procedural documents to submit to the Prime Minister to request the planning task of the Special National Monument and prepare a dossier to send to UNESCO for recognition as a World Heritage Site. This is a very special relic, one of the three great cultures of the Vietnamese people: Sa Huynh Culture, Oc Eo Culture and Dong Son Culture, so it is in great need of protection, promotion and preservation".
