According to the program, tourists will visit and experience tourist attractions in Bai Chay, Hong Gai, Ha Long and enjoy cuisine on ships running along the coast of Ha Long Bay. Since the beginning of the year, Quang Ninh has welcomed nearly 40 international cruise ships with nearly 50,000 tourists, an increase of 25% over the same period. Notably, many ships docked in June and July, different from the usual cruise season from September to April of the following year.
Quang Ninh welcomed more than 1,200 cruise ship tourists right after storm No. 3 Wipha.
Mr. Nguyen Lam Nguyen, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ninh, said that the arrival of cruise ships even in the summer shows the strong attraction of the destination, gradually turning Quang Ninh into a cruise tourism center of Vietnam and the region.
“Quang Ninh has identified cruise ships as one of the important tourism products that need to focus resources, facilities, people and communication promotion. Previously, the cruise season was mainly from September to April of the following year. In 2025, we recorded that even in the summer, cruise ships from Europe, Japan, and China still come to Ha Long, which affirms Quang Ninh's position with international tourists,” said Mr. Nguyen.
Also on July 23, one day after storm No. 3 dissipated, all tourism activities in Quang Ninh returned to normal. Ha Long Bay alone welcomed about 4,500 visitors. This result reflects the proactive and flexible organization of plans to welcome visitors after the storm, contributing to helping Quang Ninh get closer to the goal of welcoming 20 million visitors, including 4.5 million international visitors in 2025.
