Awarding UNESCO World Documentary Heritage Certificate to the family of the late musician Hoang Van

VHO - On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), the Department of Political Affairs, Ministry of Public Security directed Ho Guom Theater to perform a special art program called "For the Future" - a concert of works by Musician Hoang Van. The program will take place on July 24 and 25, 2025.

Within the framework of the program on the evening of July 24, the UNESCO World Documentary Heritage Award Ceremony took place for the family of the late musician Hoang Van.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong, Dr. Fackson Banda, Head of Documentary Heritage Department, UNESCO Memory of the World Program, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu, Chairman of the International Advisory Council of the Memory of the World Program Johannes Joseph Maria Bos presented the UNESCO World Documentary Heritage Certificate to the family of the late musician Hoang Van.

Musician Hoang Van (1930-2015) is one of the great names of Vietnamese music . He left behind more than 700 works of diverse forms, genres and formats: songs, choirs, film music, symphonies, instrumental music, children's music..., a rich heritage in which many works have become cultural symbols of the country.

With his extensive musical knowledge, serious artistic work spirit and strong patriotism, the late musician Hoang Van created works that have a lasting vitality in the hearts of the public. In April 2025, his collection of works was recognized by UNESCO as a World Documentary Heritage.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of musician Hoang Van's family, Ms. Le Y Linh, the late musician's daughter, shared: "I would like to express my sincere thanks to the agencies and individuals who have always accompanied us throughout the process of building the dossier to submit to UNESCO.

This joint effort has resulted in the World Documentary Heritage Award ceremony tonight at the Hoan Kiem Theater for the Collection of musician Hoang Van.

Along with pride and emotion, we are aware of our duty to continue to enhance the protection and promotion of the value of the Collection according to UNESCO criteria.

The enrollment also encouraged me to continue my research on the works of other composers of our father's time, who contributed to the formation of Vietnamese classical music in the second half of the 20th century."

The art program For Forever introduces typical works by musician Hoang Van, who has devoted his entire creative career to the country and the nation.

The content of the works focuses on the theme of praising the Communist Party of Vietnam; praising the great President Ho Chi Minh, praising exemplary soldiers, including the People's Public Security force.

Those works carry the strong echoes of the homeland and country and are pure yet majestic melodies carrying the memories and ideals of a generation of musicians and soldiers on the cultural front; they are voices from the heart representing a peace-loving nation.

Through his works, musician Hoang Van has contributed to many generations of musicians to foster love for the Fatherland, arouse national pride and the will to build the country. Musician Hoang Van was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize for Literature and Arts in 2000.

The program consists of 2 chapters, chapter I: Reminiscence - is a selection of works, recalling historical milestones to future aspirations recorded in the sounds of the musician's own life.

One of the emotional highlights of the program was the musical composition of the poem " Night View" by President Ho Chi Minh, with conductor Le Phi Phi restoring the author's original text.

Besides that, there are revolutionary songs that have stood the test of time such as I am a miner, That soldier, and Transport song .

The work Quang Binh, my homeland, was renewed with the combination of the Nguyet lute of People's Artist Co Huy Hung and the Symphony Orchestra, a creative blend of tradition and modernity.

Chapter II: For future generations - opens up a bright and vibrant space, expressing the spirit of construction and the beauty of a peaceful country.

From the emotional transition point through the work Lullaby in the Fireworks Night , the program takes viewers to childhood memories through the Suite for children: I love my school, The yellow-ringed bird, The season of phoenix flowers blooming, along with melodies spanning across the country's homelands such as: Tay Nguyen love song, Sailor's heart song, Singing about today's rice plants, Song of the People's Teacher ...

A large audience enjoyed the show.

The program ended with the mashup For Today, For Tomorrow, For Forever , as a song of joy, praising peace, love and the eternal aspiration of the Vietnamese people.

True to the name of the program - For Forever is not only a space to honor the music of musician Hoang Van but also a testament to the lasting vitality of works that have stood the test of time, have artistic value and influence in the hearts of music lovers of many generations in the country and abroad.
