Con Dao checks tourist boats to ensure safety for tourists

In the wake of a number of waterborne accidents occurring across the country, the Con Dao Special Zone (HCMC) government has requested a comprehensive review of all tourist boats and canoes. This comprehensive inspection aims to tighten safety and protect tourists when participating in island tours.

According to the latest direction from the Con Dao Special Zone Party Committee, the Special Zone People's Committee will preside over and coordinate with functional forces to comprehensively inspect the operating conditions of water vehicles serving tourists and residents on the island.

The inspection will focus on mandatory safety equipment such as life jackets, life buoys, fire fighting equipment, as well as operating licenses and qualifications of the captain and crew.

Con Dao tightens technical conditions of each vehicle before allowing departure.

Any violation or failure to meet safety requirements will be corrected and strictly handled according to regulations.

In particular, Con Dao Border Guard Station is assigned to strengthen supervision at ports, closely checking passenger lists, schedules and technical conditions of each vehicle before allowing departure.

At the same time, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and organizations in the Special Zone will step up propaganda work to ship owners and tourists, raising awareness of compliance with safety regulations when participating in activities at sea such as visiting small islands, fishing, and diving to see coral.
