Spanish clubs have spent more than €400m, with more than a month to go before the end of the transfer window. This means the €645m record for the 2024/25 season will soon be broken.
According to the forecast in La Liga's latest economic and financial report, total spending this summer could reach 650-750 million euros, continuing the strong growth momentum since the pandemic.
This massive investment is aimed at serving a special season when up to 8 LaLiga clubs participate in European competitions. Statistics since 2001 show that Spanish teams have won a total of 37 continental titles - far more than the Premier League with only 16 titles.
Notably, this transfer race is still within the sustainable financial framework that La Liga has consistently applied. The spending management system, strictly following UEFA's Financial Fair Play Law, helps clubs avoid falling into a debt spiral.
This policy is becoming a model for many other leagues to learn from, including the Premier League and Ligue 1 - where Lyon was recently administratively relegated for failing to meet financial requirements.
One of La Liga’s major successes has been its centralised TV rights sales mechanism, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary. As a result, total revenue distributed to clubs has increased from €844 million to over €1.8 billion, significantly narrowing the gap between teams.

Clubs are spending heavily in the transfer market. |
Not only are clubs aggressively recruiting players, they are also accelerating the process of modernizing their infrastructure thanks to the LaLiga Impulso project with an investment of nearly 2 billion euros from the CVC fund. Notable projects such as upgrading the Estadi Son Moix stadium (Mallorca), Sanchez Pizjuán (Sevilla), Estadio de la Ceramica (Villarreal) or the training centers of Real Betis and Celta Vigo will contribute to bringing Spanish football to the European level. Many of these projects are also expected to serve the 2030 World Cup that Spain will co-host with Portugal and Morocco.
With more than 400 million euros already poured into the transfer market and the spending rate showing no signs of slowing down, La Liga is heading towards a breakthrough summer - where old records may become a thing of the past.
