Venezuela solemnly celebrates the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and Vietnam's National Day

On the morning of September 2 (local time), at the Ho Chi Minh Monument on Bolívar Avenue, Caracas, the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) and the Caracas city government coordinated with the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela to solemnly celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).

Attending the event were Politburo member, Vice President in charge of foreign affairs of the PSUV Party, Tania Díaz; Politburo member, Vice President in charge of mass mobilization of the PSUV Party, Nahum Fernández; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of Asia, the Middle East and Oceania Tatiana Pugh; representatives of leaders of political parties in the ruling coalition, central and local ministries and agencies, and a large number of people of Caracas city.

Ms. Tania Díaz emotionally shared that although she had not yet visited the country of Vietnam that she loves and respects, through the images broadcast live by Southern Television (TELESUR) about the Anniversary, she herself as well as the people, progressive leftist forces of Venezuela and the Latin American region were all given more strength and confidence in the inevitable victory of a strong, prosperous Vietnam, a symbol of independence, freedom, dignity and resilience moving forward.

Speaking at the ceremony, Politburo member and Vice President in charge of mass mobilization of the PSUV Nahum Fernández emphasized that he always had deep feelings and admiration for President Ho Chi Minh and his spirit of steadfast and heroic struggle against colonialism and imperialism to gain Vietnam's independence.

The cause of national liberation led by President Ho Chi Minh not only brought a worthy position to the Vietnamese people, but also had great significance for peace-loving peoples in the world, showing the people of colonial countries the way to rise up and break the chains of slavery, gain independence and freedom for their countries, thereby contributing to the abolition of the colonial regime.

Not only an outstanding leader, President Ho Chi Minh was also a genius military strategist, who directly built and trained the Vietnam People's Army, an army that won every battle, with glorious victories, "famous in five continents, shaking the earth", forcing the powerful colonial and imperialist powers in the world to submit. His ideology is the guiding principle for all victories of the Vietnamese people, especially the great achievements in the current renovation process for the goal of a rich people, a strong country, fairness, democracy and civilization.

Ambassador Vu Trung My highlighted the historical significance of the August Revolution and the Declaration of Independence on September 2, 1945 by President Ho Chi Minh, which gave birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in 1945, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; affirming that the wise and talented leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh was the decisive factor in all victories of the Vietnamese Revolution.

On the same day, within the framework of activities celebrating the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela coordinated with the Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs to organize a wreath-laying ceremony at the Panteón National Shrine, paying tribute to the Liberator and national hero of Venezuela, Simón Bolivar.

The ceremony was attended by Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil Pinto; Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia, the Middle East and Oceania Tatiana Pugh, along with numerous Ambassadors, Heads of diplomatic missions in Caracas, Defense Attachés and local friends.

On the occasion of the August Revolution and National Day, September 2, President of the PSUV, President Nicolas Maduro delivered a speech, posted on social networking sites, congratulating the Party, State, Government and people of Vietnam; expressing special affection and admiration for President Ho Chi Minh and the Communist Party of Vietnam.

The message emphasized: “ From the homeland of the Liberator, National Hero Simón Bolívar and Commander Hugo Chávez, we express our admiration and deep affection for the children of “Uncle Ho”, a nation with a great heroic history. The history of Vietnam is an invaluable school for revolutionaries fighting for freedom, peace and justice. The friendly relationship and brotherhood between Venezuela and Vietnam were formed during Vietnam's struggle for independence. Vietnam and Venezuela are both written starting with the letter V, meaning “victory”. With determination and perseverance, Vietnam has had admirable development and growth, becoming a beacon of hope for the world thanks to the promotion of national solidarity, fighting spirit and high discipline”.

Notably, for the first time, the multinational television station TELESUR and Venezuelan Central Television coordinated with Vietnam Television to broadcast live the entire ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2, with the participation of commentators from famous scholars and journalists from Venezuela and Latin America.
