Proactively respond to natural disasters
In early September, storm No. 3 - one of the strongest storms in the past 30 years - caused severe damage to localities in the Northern region. Two plants of the Electricity Generation Corporation 1 (EVNGENCO1), Uong Bi Thermal Power Plant and Quang Ninh Thermal Power Plant, had to temporarily stop generating electricity to ensure safety. Meanwhile, the load on the power system continued to increase compared to the same period last year. In order to meet the mobilization needs of the national power system, EVNGENCO1 directed and supported the two units to focus on overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, quickly stabilizing production; at the same time, continuing to effectively implement the work of supplying fuel to the remaining thermal power plants, meeting the operational needs and maintaining the reserve volume according to regulations.
In addition, the water level at the end of the month of hydropower reservoirs was higher than the annual plan of the Ministry of Industry and Trade . EVNGENCO1 worked with the National Electricity System and Market Operation Company Limited (NSMO) to mobilize hydropower plants to increase flood prevention capacity, minimizing the possibility of overflow.
As a result, in September 2024, EVNGENCO1's electricity output was 2,263 billion kWh, reaching 94.1% of the assigned plan.
Regarding construction investment (CIP), the corporation is implementing CIP projects according to the assigned schedule. By the end of September, the CIP implementation volume reached 95.2% and the disbursement value reached 95.1% of the 2024 plan assigned by EVN.
In addition, digital transformation and information technology continue to be actively implemented by EVNGENCO1 with the goal of becoming a digital enterprise by 2025.
In September, the corporation and its units implemented many social security programs to support people in difficult circumstances such as supporting the construction of schools, building houses of gratitude/solidarity houses... In particular, EVNGENCO1 and its units promptly supported the work of overcoming the consequences of natural disasters such as donating 500 million VND through the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and calling on employees to donate at least 1 day's salary.
Continue to ensure safe power supply during the rainy season
EVNGENCO1 representative said that in October, EVNGENCO1 will focus on the goal of completing the assigned electricity output of 2.79 billion kWh. Specifically, the thermal power sector will maintain continuous operation of generators, carry out tasks in the program to improve reliability and operation in the 2024 - 2025 period in accordance with EVN's direction. The hydropower sector will ensure close coordination with functional agencies to play a good role in reducing floods, operating reservoirs to ensure safety for projects and downstream areas; at the same time, increase power generation to lower upstream water levels, creating capacity to receive floods during the 2024 flood season. Maintenance and repair work will continue to be carried out as planned.
In addition, EVNGENCO1 continues to direct units to effectively carry out natural disaster prevention and search and rescue work, ensuring safe power supply to serve people's needs.
Construction investment, digital transformation and other works will still be implemented by EVNGENCO1 according to plan, maintaining sustainable and stable production activities throughout the corporation.
