In the area, there are 175 water sources that must have protection corridors.

The City People's Committee has just issued a decision approving a list of 175 water sources that must have protection corridors established in the city.

The list includes 88 river and stream sections; 17 irrigation dams and reservoirs; 12 hydroelectric dams and reservoirs; 7 other reservoirs; 4 lagoons and 47 ponds and lakes with a water surface area of 2 hectares or more that cannot be filled.

Accordingly, protection corridors are established to ensure stability of river and stream banks, prevent landslides, limit encroachment on land along water sources, protect aquatic ecosystems and prevent pollution. This is the legal basis for localities and relevant units to deploy marker planting, management, inspection and handling of violations.

The City People's Committee also assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with localities to develop a budget estimate for marking water source protection corridors and submit it to the Department of Finance for appraisal. Inspect, examine, and handle violations of the law on establishing and managing water source protection corridors in the city according to regulations.

Localities organize the management and protection of water source protection corridor boundary markers according to the city's direction. Supervise activities in the water source protection corridor. Coordinate with organizations and individuals operating hydroelectric reservoirs in developing a plan to place boundary markers to determine the water source protection corridor of the reservoir in the area and carry out boundary marker placement in the field after the boundary marker placement plan is approved.
