Rashford takes unexpected action after being treated harshly by Man Utd

According to the original plan, Rashford would only return at the end of July, when the Man United first team had left for the US for a pre-season tour. However, he unexpectedly showed up at Carrington and did individual training sessions instead of participating in team training.

In addition to Rashford, four other “discarded” players including Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia are also entitled to access medical and rehabilitation facilities at Carrington. This is considered a cautious step by the Man Utd leadership, to avoid violating the terms of the player’s contract.

Rashford has been stripped of the number 10 shirt that has been with him for many years. Instead, this number has been given to new signing Matheus Cunha. That shows that the future of the English striker at Old Trafford is gradually coming to an end.

Rashford had a tense conflict with coach Ruben Amorim last season and was sent to Aston Villa on loan in the second half. However, last week, British media reported that Rashford was still ready to fully participate in the preparations for the new season, if he had not found a new team before Man Utd went to the US.

At 27, Rashford is attracting interest from a number of big clubs including Barcelona and Bayern Munich. However, no formal agreement has been reached. Meanwhile, the Red Devils are close to signing Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford. However, they will need to sell players to balance their transfer budget.

The Old Trafford team will begin their 2025 Summer friendly campaign with a match against Leeds United in Stockholm (Sweden) on July 19, before officially flying to the US for a tour.
