Three Vietnamese crew members safe in fishing boat capsize in South Korea

The Vietnamese Embassy in South Korea said three Vietnamese crew members were rescued from a fishing boat that capsized off Jeju Island on the evening of February 12.

According to a VNA reporter in Korea, through verifying information from Seogwipo City Police, it is known that the 2066 Chesongho ship had an accident and capsized at 8:30 p.m. while fishing at sea, about 8km from Seogwipo Port. There were a total of 10 crew members on board, including 3 Vietnamese crew members.

Rescue forces quickly arrived at the scene and have so far rescued five crew members, including four foreign crew members and the captain.

All three Vietnamese crew members were rescued and suffered no serious health problems.

Immediately after receiving the information, the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea coordinated with local authorities to investigate and verify the information and identities of the Vietnamese crew members.

The Vietnamese Embassy asked Seogwipo police to take the sailors to the hospital for health monitoring and to inform the Embassy of the news.

Acting President of South Korea Choi Sang Mok on the evening of February 12 ordered the mobilization of all available equipment and personnel, including patrol boats and underwater search and rescue teams, for rescue work.

Mr. Choi Sang Mok also requested to quickly identify the missing people to accurately identify the members on board and ensure the safety of the rescue team.

A 500-ton coastal patrol vessel has been dispatched to the scene. Rescue efforts are underway to search for the missing victims./.
