GMB League 2025: Arena connecting the school basketball generation

With the message "Fiery arena, exploding passion", the Student Basketball Tournament: Vietnam Education Electronic Magazine Cup & MVP Academy 2025 (GMB League) officially kicked off from July to September 2025.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Binh - Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Education Electronic Magazine said: "This is the first professionally organized inter-level basketball tournament, gathering student teams to compete and spread the passion for the orange ball".

The tournament has the participation of nearly 50 men's and women's teams, more than 700 athletes from secondary schools, high schools, universities, colleges and basketball training centers in the capital.

This is also the first time that the age groups from U15, U18 to U23 compete together in one tournament system, creating a diverse exchange atmosphere, connecting many generations of young players.

From the group stage to the final, security and medical teams are fully deployed at all stadiums. In particular, from the semi-finals onwards, players will be provided with sports insurance for each match, demonstrating concern for health factors and safe competition mentality.

“Basketball is a team sport that helps develop physical strength, endurance, agility and dexterity. GMB League is a professional start, contributing to raising the level of school basketball.” – Mr. Dinh Duc Manh, Deputy General Secretary of the Vietnam Basketball Federation, commented.

Mr. Nguyen Vu Huy, Head of Professional and Training Department of MVP Academy shared: “ We expect each match to be a vivid experience, where students not only compete, but also practice their will and team spirit. ”

The organizers expect GMB League to become an annual tournament, with the potential to expand nationwide in the near future.

In the context of Vietnamese basketball having strong development steps - not only in the two locomotives of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City but also spreading to many localities - tournaments like GMB League are extremely important. It is a place to nurture young talents, inspire sportsmanship, and create the premise to form the next generation of quality athletes for the country's sports.

About the prize structure:

First prize: Championship trophy, souvenir flag and 25 million VND in cash.

Second prize: Championship cup, souvenir flag and 10 million VND in cash.
