According to the report at the conference, after 5 years of implementing Decision 1893/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister on "Program for developing traditional medicine and pharmacy, combining traditional medicine and pharmacy with modern medicine and pharmacy until 2030", with the efforts of all levels and sectors, traditional medicine and pharmacy work has achieved some encouraging achievements: the system of basic traditional medicine and pharmacy facilities has been invested in and upgraded; the traditional medicine and pharmacy network at the groundswell level has been increasingly consolidated and developed; the quality of medicinal herbs and medicinal ingredients is guaranteed, traditional medicine is diverse and highly effective; medical examination and treatment services in the field of traditional medicine and pharmacy are increasingly rich and diversified...

The country currently has 5 traditional medicine hospitals, which are the leading units in traditional medicine, with high technology; at the provincial and grassroots levels, there are 58 traditional medicine hospitals; the rate of communes implementing examination and treatment using traditional medicine is 83.6%.

A number of large medicinal plant growing areas have been announced nationally; the goal is that by 2023, 25 provinces will have planned medicinal plant growing areas...

In addition to the achieved results, the implementation of the program still has some limitations: hospitals have invested in upgrading infrastructure and modern equipment but have not really attracted patients to come for medical examination and treatment; the training framework in the field of traditional medicine is not suitable for reality; Investment in resources for traditional medicine is not commensurate with the role and importance in people's health care; the development of traditional medicine is not commensurate with the inherent potential and strengths...

Concluding the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long affirmed the important position and role of traditional medicine in Vietnamese medicine; and highly appreciated the health sector in implementing Decision 1893.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long requested all levels, sectors and localities to continue improving the quality of medical examination and treatment for people using traditional medicine; focus on strongly innovative thinking, having specific, feasible solutions with long-term strategic vision; focus on training and developing human resources; build professional titles and worthy positions for the team working in traditional medicine; connect and build traditional medicine products such as OCOP products; focus on investment resources for traditional medicine, key hospitals, developing medicinal resources...

After the merger, the new Lao Cai province with its outstanding advantages and different altitude stratifications has created very rich microclimates, suitable for many species of flora and fauna to grow and develop. In particular, there are nearly 1,000 species of medicinal plants; of which nearly 100 species have the potential to be exploited, over 70 species of rare medicinal plants are subject to conservation. Currently, Lao Cai province is cultivating and developing a number of transplanted precious medicinal plants; there are many rare plants with high medicinal value. Regarding medical examination and treatment: the number of traditional medicine beds in the province increased from 587 beds (in 2019) to 917 beds (in 2024). The whole province has 43 traditional medicine clinics, 38 medicinal plant businesses; 3 private general hospitals with traditional medicine departments. In the recent period, there have been over 1 million patients examined and treated using traditional medicine and traditional medicine combined with modern medicine...
