In the space of Ho Chi Minh Museum in Hue City (7 Le Loi, Thuan Hoa Ward), an exhibition of ceramic art with the theme "Hue with Uncle Ho" is taking place. The 40 works on display are the result of selection from many works by 21 authors.
All are extremely unique personal artistic ideas. There, viewers are moved by the work “Illumination” by the artist couple Vo Quang Hoanh, not only beautiful in the lotus leaves baked from ceramic but also illuminated by the lamps with the image of Him, 9 lamps, 9 lotus platforms lighting up the eternal flame illuminating the revolutionary path of the nation.
With painters Le Trung Kien and Phan Thanh Hung, inspired by the emotions of his silent sacrifices on the journey to find a way to save the nation, they successively created the works "Gach nong long son" and "Anh hong" conveying many deep feelings.
The theme “Hue with Uncle Ho” has truly inspired the authors to express the image of Uncle Ho during his youth in Hue, associated with the places and relics bearing his footprints in the land of Ngu Mountain and Huong River. The works “Immense land and sky” (Nguyen Thien Duc), “Historical and cultural relics of Duong No Memorial House, Hue”, “Relics of President Ho Chi Minh Memorial House in Hue” (Phan Quang Tan), “Hue misses Uncle Ho” (Le Phan Quoc), “Connection” (Phan Thanh Quang), “Traces” (To Tran Bich Thuy), “Smile”, “Non song in shadow”, “Huong Sen offering to Him” (Le Ba Cang)… have brought viewers to surge with emotions and pride in the beloved leader.
Along with reliefs and other shapes, round statues also create highlights. The set of 5 statues by artist Hoang Thanh Phong depicts the portrait of student Nguyen Tat Thanh with his years studying at Quoc Hoc Hue School, to the image of Uncle Ho in Viet Bac. With the way of shaping, mastering the firing temperature and covering with different colors of enamel, extremely vivid works about Him have been created. Also expressed in the form of round statues, "Remembering Uncle Ho" (Hoang Phi Hung), "President Ho Chi Minh" (Do Van Lan) have their own way of expressing from the color of the enamel, facial features, eyes, and smile bearing the spirit of leader Ho Chi Minh. Or artist Vo Quang Phat, author of the ceramic painting "Ho Chi Minh - Eternal Piece" was inspired by 135 ceramic pieces, each ceramic piece was created to portray President Ho Chi Minh through each stage, each moment, each event. 135 pieces of ceramic are assembled into a large portrait symbolizing his dedication and contribution to the Vietnamese people.
It can be said that each work about Him is a unique artistic perspective, the sublimation in composition, along with the techniques of firing pottery, glazing, coloring... have created special works to celebrate the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh - National liberation hero, outstanding cultural figure.
Painter Nguyen Thien Duc - Chairman of the Hue City Fine Arts Association highly appreciated the creativity and social responsibility of the artists. “The 40 works have gathered all the forms and formats of ceramic art. From painting on ceramics, installations, round statues... all express the modern ceramic language, conveying many profound artistic values that the authors put into it with respect and immense love for Uncle Ho”, Mr. Duc assessed.
Ms. Le Thi Thuy Chi, Director of Ho Chi Minh Museum in Hue City, said that this is the first time the unit has coordinated to organize a ceramic art camp on the topic of President Ho Chi Minh. The works on display are all of good artistic quality, profound in content, rich and vivid in meaning, and have many new discoveries and innovations in the form of expression to create new, humane perspectives on the image of President Ho Chi Minh.
According to Ms. Chi, portraying President Ho Chi Minh is not simple. For creators, avoiding repetition, avoiding being drawn into a dry or stereotyped path is always the top criterion in artistic creation. However, painters and sculptors have overcome common difficulties to create and achieve very remarkable results.
“After the exhibition ends (expected at the end of August), the Museum will hand over the works to the authors. However, the Museum will also plan to collect the outstanding works among them in the near future,” Ms. Chi shared.
