From July 1, Vietnam officially has only 34 provinces and cities nationwide, instead of 63 provinces and cities as before. This can be considered a historical milestone. Not only adjusting and restructuring the administrative space to promote national governance and local governance, the merger of provinces and cities also has a particularly great strategic significance, designed for the future, creating a new long-term development space model for the country. The arrangement of provinces and cities is a synthesis of natural geographical, geopolitical , geo-economic, geo-cultural, national defense and security factors placed in the overall development space of the country and harmoniously combining criteria on population size, natural area, historical traditions, culture, ethnicity, religion, beliefs, compatible factors and related science. The highest goal is for common development, for the wealth and prosperity of the country, for the most prosperous and happy life of the people.

At this historical moment of the nation, everyone has a special feeling, the feeling of standing before a historical turning point in the era when the new names of provinces and cities officially came into operation, with a two-level government apparatus. When merging, people in localities that no longer had names had a bit of regret. But everyone expected a new chapter to open, and the culture and heritage of the land where they were born would be promoted and elevated. Because, wherever is Vietnam, that place is home.

In the era of integration and constant change, we need to deeply understand that our homeland is not only the place where we were born but also the sacred Fatherland, the place where we are attached by soul and intelligence. Every inch of land, treetop, and river is soaked with sweat and blood of many generations, creating an inseparable part of the national identity. Unity, the spirit of sacrifice and putting national interests first will create the strength to help Vietnam firmly overcome all challenges. This is a process that requires patience, understanding and above all, deep patriotism of every Vietnamese person.

“We are in a very special period, a period of great revolutionary change, a turning point for the development of the country. That is why we really need to join hands, join forces and especially have a change in people's mentality. When a new space is opened, it is also the time when we need to have a new mentality, where the homeland is the country, the country is the homeland”, shared Dr. Bui Hoai Son - Member of the National Assembly 's Committee on Culture and Society.

After merging administrative units, cultural heritages, national relics, world heritages, national tourist areas and intangible cultural heritages will retain their names so as not to change the historical, cultural and scientific values of the heritage. In addition to retaining the names of world cultural and natural heritages, special national relics, national relics at the provincial and municipal levels, localities have also updated the place names associated with the relics according to the newly arranged administrative units. Intangible cultural heritages must also retain their names so as not to change the historical, cultural and scientific values of the heritage. Review the scientific records of the heritage to unify the scope of distribution and dissemination of the heritage to have a basis for management according to authority. Traditional festivals are determined at two levels: provincial-level traditional festivals or communal-level traditional festivals.

Each region has its own unique identity and it is this diversity that has created a unified Vietnam in all its forms. In the article “The Power of Unity”, General Secretary To Lam affirmed that there is no weapon more powerful and effective than the consensus and unanimity of the political system and the support of the entire people. As President Ho Chi Minh summarized - “Unity, unity, great unity. Success, success, great success”. The country is the homeland, not only a reminder of the strong connection between each citizen and the fatherland, each person, each action for the country is a living proof of the belief and aspiration to build a modern, unified and prosperous Vietnam, with the country firmly entering the new era.
