The planning research area, with an area of ​​about 30,875 hectares, belongs to the administrative unit where the relic is distributed; including: The area to protect the special national relic My Son Temple Complex and the area to protect relics related to My Son Temple Complex such as: Tra Kieu, Bang An, Thu Bon river basin, other archaeological sites and Champa ruins.

According to regulations, the subjects of planning research include: The system of temples, towers, ruins and architectural - archaeological vestiges, mountain and forest landscapes, streams... creating the special typical values ​​of the My Son National Special Monument; intangible cultural values ​​related to the monument (festivals, customs, folk legends,...); management, protection, investment in preservation, restoration, rehabilitation and promotion of the value of the monument; technical infrastructure; socio -economic and environmental factors related to the monument; institutions and policies, planning, plans, projects and related projects; location, role and relationship between the My Son National Special Monument with other valuable monuments, works and locations in the area and neighboring areas.

The planning aims to preserve, restore and restore the values ​​of the My Son National Special Monument; protect forest resources, biodiversity and cultural heritage of the community in the planning study area on the basis of inheriting the objectives of the Planning for Conservation and Promotion of the Value of My Son Monuments in the period 2008-2020.

Promoting the value of the special national relic My Son Temple Complex continues to be an attractive cultural tourist destination; connecting with other historical - cultural relics and scenic spots in the locality, forming a chain of tourism products, combining environmental protection and protection, contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality.

At the same time, determine the boundary of the protected area of ​​the My Son Temple Complex as a legal basis for managing the relic, determine functional areas, organize landscape architecture space and arrange technical infrastructure suitable for the stages of conservation and promotion of the relic's value...

The My Son Temple Complex is a special national architectural and artistic relic, a world cultural heritage; a famous cultural and ecological tourist area of ​​the locality, Vietnam and the world.

Accordingly, the content of the planning task includes: Determining the requirements for research, survey, and assessment of the current status of the relic; researching and assessing socio-economic factors and natural environment related to the planning content; Determining the characteristics and typical values ​​of the relic; proposing the scope of planning research and planning scope; proposing the content on the orientation of preservation, restoration, rehabilitation and promotion of the value of the relic; orientation of organizing architectural space, landscape and construction of works.
