The Journey of Mobile Films

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - Few people know that behind the mobile films shown to serve the audience, especially people in remote areas, there are silent sacrifices of the "warriors" of the film projection team of the Center for Promotion of Tourism and Culture, Thanh Hoa Cinema. Regardless of the sun or rain, regardless of difficulties and hardships, every day they are still working hard to bring the "films" back to their villages.

The Journey of Mobile Films

A mobile film screening for people in the highlands.

After many hours following the “soldiers” of Film Projection Team No. 1, Center for Tourism Promotion and Culture, Thanh Hoa Cinema, we finally arrived at Xia Noi village, Son Thuy commune. After a few stories with the villagers, the “soldiers” of the film projection team immediately got to work. Some stretched the backdrop, tied the ropes, others installed, adjusted the machines, amplified the speakers... to prepare for the evening of performing arts and mobile film screenings to serve the people.

Mr. Le The Chuyen, in charge of Film Team No. 1, said: "This time, coming to Xia Noi village - where the Mong ethnic people mainly live, we will organize a cultural program performed by artists and actors from the Center for Tourism Promotion and Culture, Thanh Hoa Cinema with many special performances, such as: singing, dancing to praise the Party, Uncle Ho, love for the homeland, the country, the Vietnamese people, the tradition of solidarity between the ethnic communities in the province... At the same time, bring films about war, revolution, social life such as "The smell of burnt grass", "The road through the forest", "Glorious revolutionary stages"...".

“The mobile film screening business is also very difficult, especially for our team in charge of mountainous areas, it is even more difficult, because the roads are far away, there are many places with small, steep roads, cars carrying equipment cannot enter, forcing us to transport by motorbike. A nearby film screening location takes a few hours to drive, and a far away village takes a whole day, even from early morning until late at night to get there... Difficulties in traffic, weather or broken vehicles are problems that everyone in our team often encounters. Not only that, on rainy days, the roads are slippery, there are many steep passes, accidents are always lurking. When the film is finished, the team members have to pack up their equipment until 11 - 12 o'clock at night. Although the film screening business is hard, those of us in the profession also feel honored and proud because every time we arrive at the screening area, seeing the people enthusiastically and happily welcoming us with sincere feelings, all the difficulties seem to disappear," Mr. Chuyen confided.

Ms. Sung Thi Lau, a resident of Xia Noi village, shared: For people in remote areas, when we watch films, we find them extremely valuable. Therefore, whenever a mobile film crew comes, the whole village is as happy as a festival, everyone is excited to go watch. Today, we get to watch films about the Party and Uncle Ho, and the film crew also actively propagates the policies, guidelines, and laws of the Party and State to the people. Thereby, not only raising awareness and understanding of the law but also enriching our spiritual and cultural life."

Sharing about the mobile film screening activities, Mr. Duong Ngoc Lam, Head of the Cinema Department, Tourism Promotion Center and Culture, Thanh Hoa Cinema, said: Currently, the center has 4 mobile film screening teams, in most localities in the province. From the beginning of 2025 to now, the teams have screened nearly 800 mobile film screenings with film content ranging from history to revolutionary traditions, entertainment... serving people in hundreds of villages, hamlets, agencies, units, schools... Particularly during peak occasions such as May 19 and September 2, screenings are arranged to increase. Although currently, mobile "film footage" is still eagerly received by people, and is an indispensable spiritual food for people in remote areas. However, mobile film screening activities also face many difficulties due to the explosion of information technology.

"That situation requires us to constantly improve quality, both in terms of content and technology, especially paying attention to investing in modern, synchronized digital film projectors, purchasing additional generators... to promptly meet the needs of the people. At the same time, we need to strengthen innovation in film genres in a diverse and rich direction from form to content, continuously updating new films with social significance and high educational content. Along with that, we need to combine dubbing ethnic languages such as Thai, Muong, Mong, Dao... into films to serve ethnic minorities. In addition, the integration, dissemination and propaganda of the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and policies for people in remote areas are also focused on by film teams. Thereby, we can both meet the people's need to enjoy spiritual culture and maximize the effectiveness of propaganda work for the province's political tasks", Mr. Duong Ngoc Lam affirmed.
