Supermarket systems increase food supply to serve consumers.
According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, Thanh Hoa is one of the localities affected by storm No. 5. Before the storm made landfall, people in the province proactively purchased essential necessities.
At traditional markets, the number of buyers increased compared to normal days. Fresh products such as meat, fish, seafood, vegetables, fruits, etc. were consumed strongly. In addition, products that are easy to preserve such as eggs, instant noodles, bread, water, and dry food were also in high demand.
Not only at the market, large supermarkets in the area such as Co.opmart Thanh Hoa, WinMart, GO!... also recorded an increase in the number of customers coming to shop. To meet the demand, supermarkets have proactively arranged staff to work, while ensuring adequate supply of goods and stabilizing prices to serve consumers.

To respond to storm No. 5, the Department of Industry and Trade of Thanh Hoa has issued an official dispatch requesting localities to propagate and mobilize people to proactively stockpile food, drinking water and essential goods on site, enough for use and to prepare for response when natural disasters occur.
The Department also directed businesses, cooperatives, and business households in the area to proactively stockpile essential goods, ensure supply, and promptly respond in case of separation, isolation, or disruption of supply sources. Units have fully prepared logistics plans including 5,000 boxes of instant noodles, 1,000 boxes and 4 tons of dry food, 5,000 boxes of bottled water, 2,200 tons of rice, etc.
At the same time, direct the Market Management Department to strengthen market inspection and control, promptly detect and strictly handle violations of the law in commercial activities; promptly prevent and handle acts of taking advantage of natural disasters to speculate, hoard goods, and unreasonably increase prices for illegal profits, ensuring market stability before, during and after the storm.
Although proactive preparation is necessary, authorities advise people not to hoard excessively or buy in bulk, putting pressure on the distribution system and disrupting the market. Instead, people should choose sufficient quantities, prioritizing essential items that are easy to preserve. In addition to food, it is advisable to prepare additional lighting support equipment, battery chargers, radios or water tanks to ensure daily life and communication in the event of a power outage or prolonged bad weather.
