Pepper price today 3/7 in the world market

In the world market, based on quotes from export enterprises and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Community (IPC) has updated the prices of pepper of all types traded in the international market on July 2 (local time) as follows:

Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices decreased slightly compared to yesterday at USD 7,526/ton (down 0.28%). In addition, Muntok white pepper prices decreased slightly compared to yesterday at USD 10,167/ton (down 0.28%).

Brazilian ASTA black pepper prices were unchanged from yesterday at $6,050/mt.

Prices of all types of pepper in Vietnam remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Of which, the price of Vietnamese black pepper 500 gr/l reached 6,240 USD/ton; 550 gr/l reached 6,370 USD/ton.

Domestic pepper prices increase sharply, expected to peak in the second half of 2025

Domestic pepper prices continued to increase sharply today, extending the upward trend over the past week. The current price is recorded as the highest in many years.

The main reason for this increase is the tightening of domestic supply. Many farmers and traders tend to hold on to their goods, waiting for higher prices to sell. Meanwhile, the main harvest season has ended, the amount of pepper brought to the market has decreased sharply, making the supply even more scarce.

In addition to supply factors, strong export demand also contributed to boosting prices. Major markets such as China, the US, the EU and the Middle East have all increased pepper imports from Vietnam. In particular, China has increased its purchases in the past month, creating significant demand.

Currently, Vietnam's black pepper export price has increased to 6,240 to 6,370 USD/ton, up nearly 7% compared to early June. White pepper price has also risen to 8,950 USD/ton, the highest in two years.

In the international market, pepper prices have shown signs of recovery as major exporting countries such as Brazil and Indonesia have limited sales due to low prices or unfavorable weather. In addition, logistics, transportation and customs clearance activities in the Middle East and Asia have improved, helping to speed up delivery and support price increases.

According to the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), pepper prices have been recovering slightly since the end of June. Farmers and speculators are still holding onto their stocks, expecting prices to continue to rise in the third and fourth quarters of this year. This hoarding mentality has reduced immediate supply, contributing to maintaining the upward price trend.

However, in the world market, the appreciation of the USD and escalating geopolitical tensions have made investors more cautious. At the same time, logistics costs remain high, creating short-term pressure on pepper prices in the current period.
