Competitions such as “Creative ideas for schools”, “Smart agricultural products”, outdoor classroom models, or “Students become farmers” have spread widely in Thap Muoi, Lai Vung, Cao Lanh, etc., creating a wave of positive innovation.
Dong Thap Department of Education and Training aims to have at least 70% of teachers meeting professional standards at the good level or higher by 2026, gradually improving the quality of the team to meet the requirements of innovation. General schools continue to play the role of community learning centers, contributing to building a real and sustainable learning society.
With a solid foundation from Tien Giang province (old), the school network has been expanded everywhere, the facilities are increasingly spacious; the quality of teaching and learning is constantly improved; The teaching staff is gradually standardized in both quantity and quality, meeting the requirements of fundamental and comprehensive educational innovation in the current period.
The quality of education at all levels in Tien Giang province (old) has also been constantly improved. At the preschool level, the rate of mobilizing children to attend classes continues to be stable; the quality of child care and education is increasingly focused on. The rate of children receiving semi-boarding meals reached 90%, an increase of 1% compared to the previous school year.
For primary schools, facilities are increasingly invested in synchronously and spaciously, meeting the requirements of innovation in teaching and learning. Primary schools across the province have actively implemented the 2018 General Education Program, especially in grades that are in the process of implementing the new program. In the 2024 high school graduation exam results, students from Tien Giang province (old) achieved an average score of 6,902 points, an increase of 0.182 points compared to 2023 (6.72 points), ranking 15/63 provinces and cities nationally and 2nd in the Mekong Delta region. The whole province has 32 schools with a 100% graduation rate. In the national intellectual playground, Tien Giang students also achieved many achievements with 44 prizes in the 2025 high school excellent student exam.

After merging Tien Giang province and Dong Thap province, Dong Thap province (new) has 102 commune-level administrative units (including 82 communes and 20 wards). The political and administrative center is located in My Tho ward, Dong Thap province (new).
