In the period of 2021-2025, the Department of Education and Training of Dien Bien province has actively implemented the National Target Program (NTP) on new rural construction (NTM) associated with improving learning and teaching conditions. With the motto "The State and the people work together", the province has mobilized many resources to renovate and build new classrooms, public service rooms, dormitories, and supplement teaching equipment foreducational institutions. Currently, the whole sector has 7,438 classrooms, of which 77.26% are solid rooms; 1,493 subject rooms, 3,394 student rooms and 1,671 teachers' public service rooms, however, the solidity rate in the dormitory and public service categories is still low.
The synchronous investment in infrastructure, especially the transportation system to schools in remote areas, has significantly contributed to helping students get to class more conveniently, maintaining attendance and reducing dropout rates. The rate of mobilizing 6-year-old children to enter grade 1 reached 99.96%; the rate of 15-18 year-old students studying high school and equivalent reached 80.47%, exceeding the assigned target by more than 10%. The whole province has 128/129 communis meeting the standard of universal primary education level 3, 129/129 communis meeting the standard of universal lower secondary education level 3, recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training as meeting comprehensive standards.
With the goal of having 100% of classrooms and dormitories solidified by 2030 and all communes meeting educational standards, Dien Bien will continue to increase the mobilization of investment capital, while promoting the socialization of education and improving the school environment, towards sustainable development in the field of education and training.
