380 excellent students are admitted directly to Hanoi University of Science and Technology

(NLDO)- 9 students who won international Olympic prizes and 371 students who won third prize or higher in national competitions were directly admitted to Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

These 380 candidates belong to one of three groups of talented candidates of Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

380 students who won national and international competitions were admitted directly to Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, candidates who win third prize or higher in national competitions for excellent students, science and technology, international and regional Olympic team selection, and international science and technology competitions will be considered for direct admission. Students can register for a maximum of 3 wishes, suitable for the subjects they won prizes in.

Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Duy Hai, Head of Admissions and Career Guidance Department, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, said that this year the number of candidates who won national and international prizes applying to the school is higher than previous years. In addition, the group with international certificates has also nearly doubled compared to last year.

Mr. Vu Duy Hai said the reason could be the impact of some countries like the US tightening policies on international students recently. Therefore, many students with high achievements changed their orientation from studying abroad to studying in the country. The number of students applying to Hanoi University of Science and Technology therefore increased.

In 2025, Hanoi University of Science and Technology plans to recruit 9,680 students through three methods: talent selection, thinking assessment test scores, and high school graduation exam scores.

With talent selection, in addition to direct selection according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training , the school relies on international certificates, capacity profile review combined with interviews.

Previously, on July 2, Hanoi University of Science and Technology announced the talent admission score distribution of more than 4,700 candidates based on certificates and capacity profiles. The average score was 76.48/100. There were 12 candidates who got full 100 points because they had absolute SAT and A-Level certificates and IELTS 8.0-8.5.

If last year, candidates knew the results of this method early, this year they have to register their wishes on the Ministry's common system, waiting for consideration along with other methods.

In 2024, Hanoi University of Science and Technology announced the early admission results based on the talent selection method, accounting for about 20% of the total enrollment target.
