The rare incident in Ezhou city, Hubei province, China, was posted by Jimu News on June 27 and attracted great attention on social networks.
The incident began when the woman, surnamed Li, felt discomfort in her stomach after lunch. At first, she thought it was just a digestive problem due to overeating. However, when the pain did not subside, she decided to go to a local hospital on the afternoon of June 22 to get checked out.
During the ultrasound, Ms. Li's abdominal pain suddenly increased, accompanied by uterine contractions and signs of ruptured amniotic fluid.
Realizing the emergency, the medical team at the hospital quickly contacted the obstetrics team for support. Just over an hour after being admitted to the hospital, at 3:22 pm, Ms. Li gave birth to a 2.5 kg baby boy by natural birth.
After giving birth, she was transferred to a city medical center for further health monitoring.

Recalling the moment she was told she was pregnant, Ms. Li said she couldn't help but felt confused. She admitted that she had no idea she was pregnant because her periods were irregular and she didn't notice any typical pregnancy symptoms like morning sickness, despite gaining weight in recent months.
Currently, Ms. Li's husband is working in another city. They have a 6-year-old son and do not intend to have more children, so they are careful to use contraception.
“Luckily, the baby is still healthy even though I often ride the electric bike,” said Ms. Li, expressed surprise at her second son's strong vitality.
Her husband, after receiving the notice from the hospital, quickly returned to Ngac Chau to take care of his wife and child.
Li's story is not an isolated case in China. Cases of women unexpectedly discovering they are pregnant shortly before giving birth often go viral on social media.
For example, in March, a blogger in Jiangsu shared that she gave birth to a son just one day after learning she was pregnant. Earlier, in January, a woman in eastern China who had been diagnosed with hospitalization due to uterine syndrome gave birth just four hours after discovering she was pregnant.
