Tran Pagoda -

Tran Pagoda is a "red address"for educating revolutionary traditions for today's and future generations.

According to the elders in the village, in the 13th year of Thanh Thai (ie Tan Suu year 1902), the pagoda was named Phuc Linh Tu. The reason Phuc Linh Tu pagoda is called Tran pagoda is because it was built during the Tran dynasty, in Tran Thon village. Tran pagoda was restored many times from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century with a large-scale architectural art and value in many aspects.

On October 10, 1930, representatives of the Central Party Committee returned to Ha Trung, along with local comrades, to organize a conference to establish a communist party cell at the bell tower of Tran Pagoda. At this conference, comrades Nguyen Xuan Phuong, Nguyen Van Hue, Mai Tu Cuong, Dao Xuan Ty, and Dao Van Nghinh were admitted to the Party. The establishment of the first communist party cell was an extremely important event, marking a turning point and a huge qualitative change in the revolutionary movement in Ha Trung.

Immediately after its establishment, carrying out the mission assigned by the Regional Party Committee, the Ha Trung Communist Party cell immediately began preparing for a leaflet distribution campaign calling on the People to rise up and fight against feudal imperialism to coordinate and support the Nghe Tinh Soviet movement. In the context of difficult and deprived secret operations, always being stalked and strictly controlled by the enemy, the printing and distribution of revolutionary leaflets at this time required extremely careful preparation and calculation to be successful. In just a short time, the Ha Trung Communist Party members had prepared enough tools, paper, ink and a safe location to print leaflets.

To unify actions, on the night of January 22nd and early morning of January 23rd, 1931, 5 party members and a number of outstanding people actively deployed the distribution of leaflets and completed them as scheduled at the assigned locations, without any comrades being detected by the enemy while on duty. With this victory, the prestige of the Party and the revolution was widely established, and at the same time had a great effect of encouraging and motivating the spirit of fighting against feudal imperialism among all classes of people. From the distribution of revolutionary leaflets, the Ha Trung communist soldiers clearly demonstrated their proactive and creative spirit in revolutionary activities; at the same time, they demonstrated the noble qualities of true communists who knew how to unite, coordinate, and provide timely support for the Nghe Tinh Soviet movement.

Compared to other revolutionary bases in the province, the distribution of leaflets in response to the Soviet - Nghe Tinh movement in Ha Trung took place a few months earlier, which was a recognized feat of Ha Trung communist soldiers in the early days of its establishment. After the event of revolutionary leaflets appearing in many locations in Ha Trung, the enemy was really confused and afraid of the outbreak of the communist movement. To deal with the situation, District Chief Ton That Duong on one hand reported to the Governor of Thanh Hoa , on the other hand, ordered soldiers to search everywhere but did not find any specific clues. Finally, because of previous suspicions, the authorities decided to arrest comrades Dao Van Ty and Nguyen Van Hue.

After comrade Nguyen Van Hue and Dao Van Ty returned from the provincial prison, they secretly sought to contact communist soldiers and outstanding masses to agree on a working principle suitable to the new situation. Thanks to skillful and creative coordination, the grassroots party organization and revolutionary mass organization in Ha Trung were basically safe. Thanks to that, during the democratic movement (1936-1939) and the national liberation movement (1939-1945), Ha Trung became a district with a strong revolutionary movement. After 15 years of fighting for national independence (1930-1945) and throughout the revolutionary struggle period that followed, the grassroots party organization, mass organization and revolutionary movement in Ha Trung always developed strongly...

Over time with many historical changes, Tran Pagoda has become a ruin. The ancient massive architectural works such as: pagoda, ancestral house, ancient trees, Buddha statues, lakes, wells... are all in the memories of the people. However, on the old pagoda land, there are still the pagoda bell tower, the Nguyen Dynasty stone stele clearly recording the year of restoration of the items in the pagoda and 3 stupas of relics (monks' tombs) that still look intact and ancient.

In 2000, the Tran Pagoda bell tower was ranked as a provincial historical, cultural and revolutionary relic. Over the years, with the support of the State and the contributions of organizations and individuals, Tran Pagoda has been restored and embellished with a number of items such as the bell tower, stele house, grounds, entrance, and fence. The ancient Tran Pagoda and the existence of the ancient pagoda bell tower with two floors and eight roofs, and the stone stele in the pagoda are invaluable, carrying historical and cultural significance so that this place will forever be a "red address" in propaganda, education and promotion of historical, cultural and revolutionary traditional values for today's and future generations.
