According to the Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC), in June 2025, the commercial electricity output in 27 northern provinces and cities (excluding Hanoi ) reached 9.85 billion kWh - the highest level among EVN's distribution corporations. Notably, on June 2, electricity consumption set a record of 373.6 million kWh in one day, while peak capacity reached 17,400 MW at 13:15 and 18,084 MW at 22:00 - an increase of 684 MW in less than 9 hours. These figures show that the prolonged hot weather has had a strong impact on people's electricity consumption behavior.

According to Thanh Hoa Electricity Company, the record electricity consumption at 22:30 on June 2, 2025, the total electricity usage capacity of the province reached a peak of 1,597.5 MW, the commercial electricity output in June was 866.179 million kWh, an increase of 15.1% over the same period and an increase of 11.46% compared to May 2025. Accumulated in 6 months 4,200.9 million kWh, an increase of 11.26% over the same period.

The main reason is that in June there were three heat waves with temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius, leading to a sudden increase in electricity demand, especially in households. This led to a sharp increase in electricity bills for many households, causing concerns among the public. In addition, June also marks the beginning of summer vacation for students at home, with the heat forcing them to use air conditioners at low temperatures, other cooling devices such as fans, refrigerators, and coolers... for a long and continuous period.

To proactively control electricity bills and use electricity economically, reasonably and effectively during the hot season, Thanh Hoa Electricity Company recommends that customers: Set the air conditioner at 26-28 degrees Celsius, combine using fans and close the doors to avoid heat loss; limit the simultaneous use of many high-capacity electrical appliances during the hours of 13:00-15:00 and 20:00-23:00 on hot days; turn off appliances when not in use, take advantage of natural light during the day, choose electrical appliances with energy-saving labels, and perform annual maintenance to maintain operating efficiency. In the long term, the Company encourages households and businesses with suitable conditions to consider installing self-generating and self-consuming rooftop solar power systems, contributing to reducing electricity purchase costs, ensuring environmental emissions...
