Pottery making experience at Moc Gom Coffee

In the past, people and tourists who wanted to create their own ceramic products had to go to traditional craft villages such as Bat Trang pottery village. Now, right in the poetic Thao Nguyen, tourists and locals have an ideal meeting place: Moc Gom Coffee.

Ms. Tran Thi Quynh Nga, owner of Moc Gom Coffee, shared: Stemming from my deep love and passion for traditional ceramics of the nation, I want to create a space where people can find rustic and familiar values. Each ceramic product is born with the breath of the Northwest land and sky, decorated with delicate brocade patterns, familiar motifs of highland life. It is a blend of traditional features and contemporary breath, creating unique works.

Clay making process on the turntable.

The pottery making experience at Moc Gom Coffee is scientifically designed and easy to approach, suitable for even those with no experience. The process starts from the most basic step of kneading and shaping clay on a turntable. Under the dedicated guidance of the artisans, the lifeless clay blocks gradually become soulful, forming cups, bowls or any other objects according to the imagination of the clay maker.

After shaping, the product is dried to shape and increase hardness. This is an important step, requiring patient waiting. Finally, the most anticipated step is decoration. Visitors will be free to express their creativity through each stroke and color, creating their own product. The final steps such as firing in a kiln at high temperature and glazing will be completed by artisans at Moc Gom, ensuring that each product is of the best quality.

Not only a miniature handmade pottery workshop, Moc Gom Coffee is also a space connecting family members. This is where everyone can put aside the hustle and bustle of daily life, let their hands freely "chat" with the soil, knead, shape and breathe life into each work.

Ms. Nguyen Phuong Thao, Moc Chau ward, shared: To experience traditional pottery making, I took my children to Moc Gom Coffee to learn more about pottery making and make daily products by hand, it was wonderful.

After only 7 months of operation, Moc Gom Coffee has welcomed nearly 10,000 visitors to visit and experience, most of whom are students from schools in the province. This shows the strong attraction of this unique experience model. Through the experience, it helps children have moments of entertainment and relaxation after stressful days of studying. More importantly, it fosters love and appreciation for traditional handicraft products. At the same time, it helps children practice patience, meticulousness and develop unlimited creativity.

Bui Tho Loc, Van Son ward, excitedly said: I was able to directly participate in the process of molding and painting pottery. The feeling of holding in my hand the product I made myself is really interesting and proud. For me, this is the ideal destination on weekends.
